Beto is out of hospital after being given the “all clear” having been knocked unconscious in the closing stages of today’s win over Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park.
Earlier, Sean Dyche had confirmed that the striker was conscious and responding to the Club’s medical staff before being being taken to hospital as a precaution.
Beto had come on as a 67th-minute substitute for Dominic Calvert-Lewin who had picked up a knock to his knee but he was poleaxed in a collision with Morgan Gibbs-White during stoppage time, leaving team-mates turning away in horror.
He was eventually stretchered off the pitch and gave the crowd a thumbs-up to reassure them that he was okay and he later posted on Instagram, saying: “Everything [is] ok now. Time to sleep.”
Earlier, Dyche had said after the game: “It’s too early from a medical perspective, but the early signs are very good.
“He had come around and he was speaking to the physios and the medical team so that’s good news at this early stage.
“We hope for news over the next 24-48 hours.”
While his scans were clear, a concussion has not been confirmed but it is likely that the striker will fall under the Premier League’s protocols for head injuries and miss both Wednesday’s Merseyside derby and the clash with Brentford on Saturday.
Dyche also commented on Nottingham Forest’s bizarre decision to post a strongly-worded statement on social media decrying the fact that neither referee, Anthony Taylor, nor Video Assistant Referee, Stuart Attwell, saw fit to award them any of three possible penalties in the game.
The East Midlands club complained that the Premier League failed to heed their “warning” that Attwell was a fan of relegation rivals, Luton Town, and insinuated that the VAR was biased in his decision-making.
“I don’t know about that for a team that has only had two penalties in the season so far,” Dyche said on Sky Sports. “I am not going to start crying about penalties I can assure you. We have had plenty not given.
“VAR is there to do its job, they have voted it’s not a penalty, that’s the way it goes. I am not going to start crying about having knocks. You know, we have had a few here this season.
“That baffles me if you are looking at the bigger picture of what we are working towards and what we are having to deal with. That’s the way it goes, we haven’t had them go for us [either].”
