A number of online outlets are pushing the story that Everton will give 31-year-old Jesse Lingard a ‘lifeline’ in the form of a short-term contract at some point this month.
However, sources close to Everton, including Sky’s northwest correspondent, Alan Myers, and The Bobble have poured cold water on the speculation.
A former England international, Lingard has been without a club since he was released by Nottingham Forest in the summer after failing to score in 17 Premier League outings.
The player made his name at Manchester United until his bitter exit at the end of the 2021-22 season after spending 6 months on loan at West Ham Utd the season before.
Lingard also trained with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in a bid to earn a move back into professional football but couldn’t secure a deal, with excessive wage demands thought to be a barrier.
