The Daily Mail’s Matt Hughes is back with another Everton-related article, suggesting now that other Premier League clubs will be voicing their concerns about the Blues again, this time in relation to 777 Partners’ proposed buy-out of Farhad Moshiri’s majority shareholding.
Hughes claims that some Premier League owners will use tomorrow’s meeting between owners and executives in London to raise the issue even though it is not on the agenda.
He says that there are concerns, not only over the source of funding for their reported £500m takeover but also over “reputational damage” to the Premier League given the various lawsuits that 777 Partners are fighting in the United States.
Clubs themselves do not have voting power to prevent takeovers in the Premier League but they can hope to use their influence to persuade the governing body not to sanction buyouts by certain entities or individuals.
777’s attempted takeover faces what is expected to be weeks or months of due diligence before it can be ratified.
