Ominously quiet on the Fernandes Front

Comments (3)

Is anyone else starting to get a bad feeling about the whole Fernandes situation? In this case I think no news is bad news. I can't see the sometimes overly frugal Moyes paying anything close to £12m for him, especially with the headache David has in the coming season with trying to balance quantity with quality.

And as for a year-long loan deal? I'm dubious that even Benfica would leave a young player of such obvious quality stay on loan for another 12 months unless we guarantee to cough up the 12m by this time next year. Much and all as I'd dearly love to see him in Everton blue over the coming months, I worry we might have already seen Fernandes kick his last ball for Everton.

We live in hope though!

If we have any inclination to sign Fernandes on either a permanent deal or on another years loan we really need to do it before the Under 21 Euros start next week. I have no doubts that he will be one of, if not the, best players at the tournament and he will have no end of offers when its all over.
And whilst i’m on the subject lets hope nobody comes sniffing for Vaughan because I can see him having a stormer if he is given a chance.

I?m getting sick of this Fernades speculation now,if he signs he signs if he doesn?t he doesn?t.

I?m sure the club have a better idea of whether the lad is worth the money that has been quoted than we do.

As a Benfica fan, I sure would like to see this player return to Portugal. He is, alongside Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Veloso, the best defensive midfileder produced in Portugal in the last 15 years. you can be sure of one thing: £12m is a once in a lifetime bargain on this player...
