Paranoia

Comments (6)

Maybe it's Everton leaking stories of West Ham's bidding for Johnson / Cahill / Arteta to the press so when we don't sign anyone, Moyes can just say "well we've done well to hold on to our better players, they're really like three new signings!"

God, I'm bored with no football to talk about...

I like your way of thinking.

Not only has the AJ to WHU story got completely out of hand, but some Evertonian's reaction to it, and the denials, are over the top too. Jeez, just because their chairman says things in a certain way some believe it's the end of the world and he should have said such and such... Just halt the paranoia and get a grip.

If in, say, six weeks' time there's been no additions to the squad, then have a right old moan and get ready to string up BK, but in the meantime "chill out"...after all you might have been born one the "worst supporters in Europe"... and that would be cause for concern.

Just before anyone starts to get excited about rumours of sales etc. ... suppose we did sell AJ, that does not necessarily make us a "selling club". The later issue would be determined by what we did with the proceeds. If it went on other players who, individually or collectively, make a contribution equally as good as that of the player exiting the club, then where?s the problem?

Have Manchester United in recent seasons not sold the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy? He is, pro-rata, one of their all-time top goal scorers after all. No. You wouldn't call them a ?selling club?.

Didn't Arsene Wenger sell Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars, as a £30m job-lot to Barcelona in 2000? What did he do with the dosh? He spent a measly £10m of that money on a no-mark called Thierry Henry. I bet the gooners fans are still livid over that bit of business.

And let's not forget, if we have indeed been a selling club in times past, it's not just a recent phenomenon. Didn't Harry Catterick offload Alan Ball 46 years ago?

Let AJ go... for £20M plus Tevez and Ashton! And maybe that keeper Green as well to keep TH on his toes. Now that would be a FM moment!!

In all seriousness, if West Ham are mental enough to pay £20M (and AJ wants to go) then sell away. Provided: Provided the cash is used to only to buy good new players and it is all up front.

AJ to WHU... stop panicking! Unlike Magnus Egghead, a rich kid in a new toy shop who want's to buy everything he sees. We are bigger and a better club with far more potential, plus the media has nothing else to wite about. Enjoy your holidays people and keep the faith/(in the words of Public Enemy) Don't believe the hype.

Sorry Brian, my comments were tongue in cheek at the mass hysteria surrounding us not signing anyone yet.
