Mark Viduka

I was gutted to hear that we didn't go in for Mark Viduka. I think he would have been a great signing. He has everything we need in terms skill, hold-up, aerial prowess and genuine strength.

Anichebe can hold the ball up yet is only 19 and still developing. Viduka is also a natural goalscorer. 19 goals and 8 assists in all competitions proves his quality

He's also 32, Connor. A natural goalscorer he may be but he's getting slower every season and I'm glad that Moyes only wants to sign younger players. That probably explains why he hasn't as yet followed up his interest in that Helstad fellow ? he's 30 and not a long-term solution.

While I agree with Lyndon that Viduka is not the future, had we gone in for him a year or two ago he could have made the difference between 6th place and a top four.
Theres that useless IF creeping in again.

Viduka is a Gun no matter how old he is.

Yeah I like the Duke. I think he would have been a good partner for AJ. Very good vision, and would have exploited AJ’s pace well. I just hope Anichebe can grow into that role. We need someone that can make use of Johnson’s speed better.

Viduka is to old for any forward thinking club (certainly not Newcastle)..Also, he has an attitude problem when things start going wrong in games (remember him ambling disinterested around the pitch when at Leeds)...Not worth his overinflated salary.

Big Doooks runs very hot and cold I am afraid. When he’s hot, he’s really on fire. Unfortunately those times are few and far between his cold spells, where he can’t buy a goal. His run of form last season coincided with his end of contract. This was good for him. But when it really mattered for instance in the World cup campaign, he was pretty ineffective.

I am quite glad that we didnt buy him (and I am Australian).

I wish we had bought McBride back when Fulham did. He was great for us on loan and would have been way better than Beattie.

There - another useless IF.

Some of your views expressed above such as McBride and Viduka are deeply depressing. Aim high guys! The sky is the limit!

Yeah I’m finding it difficult to aim high though, after most decent players are out of our price range at the moment. (given the highly inflated prices)

If the Manuel Fernandes deal fails to materialise, Everton must try to sign Wesley Sneijder. The lad is a full Holland international and is a class act and he is only 23. Apparently, Spurs and Villa are chasing him and I don't see why we shouldn't either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8nZDQJQRdY
