For god's sake please let the Rumour Mill be wrong. How on earth can we even contemplate having Roberts? He's been shite everywhere he's played and is one player who could actually turn out worse than Beattie... Heaven forbid!

Wouldn't any one swap Jason Roberts for James Beattie? I definately would. Pace, power and a physical presence.
I have always thought he was a decent player. I know it is just a rumour but he is a good player who would fit in here. We need to remember that we are not going to buy the likes of Riquelme because they are genarally to good for us.
Lets be realistic.
Connor, re. your comment about a player being "too good for Everton": I hope you are having a laugh. Given the pedigree of Everton, I assume you mean that given the mercenary money greedy nature of the vast majority of players, we are unwilling and/or unable to compete with the highest current bidders in this presently over-inflated transfer market. Your comment strikes me as overly critical and wrong, especially when one considers Everton players of the pedigree, to name a few from past and present, of the likes of Arteta, Kanchelskis, Sheedy, Ball, Young, Dean etc etc.
Is it just me or is every one else getting abit worried with the kind of players that are being linked with Everton?! We have just qualified for the UEFA Cup and were apparently "interested" in buying the likes of Roberts, Helstad, Russell Anderson, Simek and i even heard about a return for Gravesen! I mean we should be looking at better quality players if we are to push on next season and challenge in the UEFA Cup and maintain a top 6 finish i just dont think these players would take us to the next level, there just not good enough to me, fair does Gravesens decent but hes knocking on now! i mean whats happened to the rumours about us goin in for the likes of Nugent, Jagielka, Koumas, Yaya Toure and Alou Diarra? these are the sort of young quality players that would improve are squad next season!
I am also troubled about any Roberts deal since Mark Hughes knows a bit about strikers and he is not going to take Beattie in a straight swap unless he knows he is getting a good deal. Another thing that bothers me is that with an already small squad we’ve let Pistone and Wright leave and now we’re swapping (Beattie for Roberts, Jagielka for Naysmith) rather than adding to our squad.
At some point quantity is just as important as quality Mr Moyes.
Can someone explain to me how letting Wright leave is a bad thing? (Kieran Kinsella comments above) The bloke is a liability! You could see it in the defenders faces when he played that they were shit scared of the ball going near him.

I think that Kieran has a point, Everton in this close season should be looking to add numbers to the squad. But it looks increasingly likely that in order to purchase a player we will have to remove a current squad member. I notice that the Club’s website have not given the usual profile to the number of season tickets sold (so far), and perhaps the financial situation is a lot tighter than they thought it would be. Of course in the absence of substantive information, all our thoughts are merely conjecture.
Quantity is as important as quality ?????????
Seriously ??????????
Easy for Moyes then ...........just sign the first ten guys who walk past your house tomorrow morning , David.
Then we will have a nice big squad where quantity is as important as quality..........even if none if these guys can play worth a damn.
Have we all forgotten the mistake Howard made in his first season when he signed a ton of journeymen and eventually our beloved Dome realised that QUALITY matters more than anything and the rest is history.
I’ve never seen Nugent play . He would cost £7 million and massive wages right now .
Can somebody tell me if he is a better prospect than James Vaughan for next season , especially when Victor Anichibe is available on the bench ?
John Patrick Mcfarlane as of friday we had sold 21,000 season tickets according to Saturdays Daily Post and indications are that we will exceed record sales of 24,000 we sold in champons league season.
If we are going to get another striker lets make it one who would be picked IN FRONT of the likes of Vaughan and Anichebe. Jason Roberts would rot in the reserves.
As regards Roberts' pace, yes, but his goal tally is rubbish; he's hardly set the world alight.
I'm sure we can find someone who can score more than he would. Any ideas ??
