Transfers (Not FM)

Comments (5)

Just been on the BBC web site and noticed the transfer market is very, very quiet. Does anyone know why this is? I thought all Premiership clubs had loads of money to spend. The quiet start to the transfer window probably relates to all the rubbish the tabloids are putting out as there is no "real" news. On a similar point, I cannot understand why Moyes gets so much (constant) stick when he, like almost all Prem managers, has done little or no business since May.

Maybe, just maybe, they're all on their hols right now after a long season... Which would seem to be a good place for plenty of others to be right now, judging by some of the comments being posted!

Portsmouth, Man U and to some extent Newcastle and Bolton have done some signings, but true: very quiet.

Some reasons maybe:

1. Value, what is good value now that everybody has a lot of money?

2. U-21 Championship

3. Spanish League not finished and maybe some clubs are holding out to see what they want to offload and not least make bids for.

4. Hammers/Sheff U ? if not we would probably have bought Jagielka by now.

Why are we affraid? Hey come on ? you now why! Not afraid of Moyes's intentions but afraid the pocket is more or less empty.

May also be that many contracts expire at the end of June. I do think that we spent much of this year’s cash last year, so Moyes will be trying to make sure he gets his buys dead right at the right price.

Mark Pembridge (released), Tomasz Radzinski (released) from Fulham - shame for Pembo but delighted about Radzinski not given new contract - where to now bigmouth? MLS?

Dude, this new TV deal does not mean that clubs have loads of dosh to spend on transfers. Most of it, as said by one of the Chairman of a Prem club, will end up in the players’ car park. A lot of players are renogiating contracts now.

As Colm said once, Football is Fooked! If Sky ever wakes up to the fact that they’re competing in a market of 1, maybe they’ll reduce their bid price. What then for the clubs with players on huge contracts?
