"Ah yes... how does it go again? In Moyes We Trust. 2004-05 was merely a bad memory, eh, Dickie? Michael"

Was 2005-06 a good memory then Michael? Is it possible that the manager is capable of growth, learning from his mistakes? Is it possible that we as fans can have a little patience and wait beyond the 11th of June? Is it possible that the media, or you, or I, or any "source" for that matter, doesn't know everything that Moyes is trying to set up? Is it possible that a chief executive with decades of experience is better at running a football club than a fansite webmaster?

It's time for cool heads, time to think about other things than football. After all, no matter how much we worry, it will not change anything going on at the club. I recommend the Sopranos, or sunbathing with a beer, as a good distraction.

It's funny you should mention The Sopranos, Scott ? and, yes, there's a spoiler coming up so look away now if you don't want to know the result! ? because the last time we were preparing for a European campaign it ended just like the now-famous mobster series. Lots of plotting, a few loose ends tied up and then at the big climax... nothing.

I'm caught between those sources who suggest that this will not be a big-spending summer ? the Sky money will be used to cover our rising wage bill ? and those that are claiming that many of the targets we've been strongly linked with will be signed in due course.

It is still fairly early (Joleon Lescott wasn't signed until 14th June last year) but based on past experience in transfer windows, you can completely understand why some people are getting so twitchy. The records of other clubs outside the big four who have struggled to compete in the league and Europe in recent seasons shows that we are in for a rough ride next term if we don't draft in sufficient reinforcements.
