Corner flag clear up

Comments (1)

Just to let everyone know, that the only club who used to be able to have the club crest on their corner flags was Blackburn Rovers, thanks to their three consecutive FA Cup wins in the 1880's.

However, several clubs (including Everton and Manchester United) are now putting their club crests on corner flags as well.

Apparently there is no rule to stop any club putting their crest on the corner flags if they so wish.

I've been 'out of service' these past few days so forgive me for having some catching up to do.....but I recall that League Championship winners or FA Cup winners were the only clubs allowed to place triangular flags in place for their home matches. Furthermore, is it only in FA Cup ties we see the triangular flag. Not got time to google (yet!) so someone may come up trumps with the definitive answer.

Just checked and apparently this is not a breach of Premiership rules. According to Sky Sports (a Martin Tyler question and answer thing) Man Ure did it last season because the groundsman thought the flags looked better with a club crest on them.

I thought Blackburn were the only club who were allowed too.
