Lescott

In my opinion, Joleon Lescott is Moyes's best ever signing. To be honest he was the best buy last season. I still don't know which is his best position. At centre half he is dominant as well as left back. I haven't seen anyone go past him yet. I remember Agbonlahor just beating him for pace when we lost one nil at Goodison but other than that no one.

I think It was a good thing Moyes did putting him out at left back. It has obviously improved his distibution. If we where to buy another good centre half then I would have no problems with him being put out there.

If Moyes is looking for a defender then I would renew our intrest in Matteo Ferrari. I watched one of Roma's games a few months back and he was superb. He is one of those elegant defenders and strong In the tackle. The problem is though he is injury prone. Altough he wasn't injured last season.

Manu is another Tevez

Just seen this on the BBC - this would explain things as to dithering as some people call it.

"The third-party who have a stake in Manuel Fernandes has scuppered a possible move for the winger to the Premiership".

That BBC comment is from the ever-reliable Daily Mail. I refuse to take any rumour seriously when the journalist doesn’t even know what position the player plays in.

As for Lescott. Yes he’s a decent left-back but his crossing is poor and he can’t do it with his left foot. He’s a centre-back with versatility. Play him in his best position and get both a covering centre-back and quality full-backs on both sides.

With regards Fernandes, it seems he is damaged goods. I looked him up on Wikipedia and what it seems is that he was a Benfica starter for the 04/05 and 05/06 season then developed a groin problem. Benfica let him go out on loan to Portsmouth but he failed a medical with them before eventually signing.

It also claims on Wikipedia that our deal to sign him was complicated due to him ’being owned by a third party agency’ which supports what was said above.

Maybe we should just wash our hands and look elsewhere.

I have to echo Connor Rohrer sentiments towards Joleon Lescott. A fantastic signing. IMO unlucky not to receive more recognition though Arteta is always going to stand out being the creative influence.

Having watched him on several occasions whilst keeping my dad company in his agony of supporting Wolves, I was pleasantly supprised when DM and the Everton board stumped up the money for Joleon. I forget the amount of times I have thanked my Wolves supporting friends and family for the nurturing they did with him in his formative years!. They are still bitter at the way the money was broken down into installments. -(on an aside, I hope they don't sell him when he's on the verge of making certain appearances that mean furhter payments to Wolves ? hasn't that happened before? Myre?).

At times I have been dismayed with Lescott playing out of position at left back as I genuinely believe CB in his best position, but in the occasions he has played LB he has been outstanding. When I was at Goodison and he set up a goal in the win against Fulham it brought a wry smile to my face. The decision on his best position must be a real conumdrum for DM going into next season. A nice headache to have though!

Next season I only expect him to get better. I just hope the Everton board can resist temptation to make a fast buck on a player who will surely get in the full England squad next season. Not that that's a good thing of course!!.
