DONT PANIC!!

Comments (7)

With regards to some supporters becoming disillusioned with current happening transfers, I think Evertonians should treat the tabloids and their content with the contempt they deserve. If you believed even The Liverpool Echo last year, we would not bid over £6 million for Andy Johnson and Moyes had only £8-10 million to spend. They just lie/guess most of the time.

If Everton want Nugent, he will arrive. Moyes knows him better than anyone. I feel he lacks the determination for the Premiership and disappears from games, and would prefer we kept Beattie.

Barton is an over-rated trouble-maker just perfect for Newcastle and has only gone there for inflated wages (he wants to win things!).

On Fernandes, there is every chance he could still arrive on a year's loan. The player never seems to know what is happening as his agent is probably trying to sell him on the back of his U21 performances.

To get the right type of player we need patience and to move at the right time. We don't need to panic. We're still nearer the end of last season than we are to the start of next season.

I think I could let you convince me we don't need any new players, and that the ones we already have are just fine ? they did get us to 6th after all!

No, I'm sorry, but I still can't get my head around the fact that Moyes apparently decided well ahead of time he wasn't going to be jumping in quick and sealing some deals. Yet it worked so well for him and for us last season! Lesson learned? My arse.

Something else is going on, and Richard Dodd (bless his little cotton socks) may actually be closest to the truth for once: almost all the available money is tied up ("ring-fenced"!) in our downpayment for the Kirkby Tescodome. [And here we were thining Sir Terry was giving us a free ride out of town...]

Keep smiling!

I can't help but worry how often have we waited all summer to be linked with someone and actually sign someone historically. Everyone we go after Newcastle will go for and probably sign. We have the basis for great things but I firmly believe if we do not improve the squad and we struggle, then the god himself, Mikel Arteta, will question our ambition. I just hope we have players lined up come on Everton.

Wright Phillips wont want to come up north. the sad fact is Everton will always have trouble attracting proven class players...for the following reasons :

1. no champs league
2. london is a much more attractive prospect than liverpool
3. players with flare and skills will naturally be put off joining a club who plays such ugly football as we do
4. the stadium is skanked out to the max
5. everton still has a stigma attached to it, were just not an attractive prospect despite improving over the past few years.

Downing wont join us either, Spurs or some other club with a abit of class will sign him instead.

Heres how it goes, we will chase Jagielka all summer then might get him. We will fail at other signings coz we dither too much, I dont think they realise how small our suad is. If we get 4 or 5 injuries we are in big trouble. Say Johnson, Arteta, Jobo, Howard!!!! Moyes will say we have lost Fernandes but we have Cahill back which is like a new player! Are we to be fooled by this again, each season we lose more players than we sign, one day it will back fire, lets just hope its not this year. We should learn from the Champions League failure, and UEFA exit which wrecked our season. We missed the chance to build that year, lets not do it again. We need a bigger squad so lets get active Mr Moyes & Kenwright, we the supporters deserve progression each year not yoyo’ing back and forth. Invest now or we will end up loosing the likes of Arteta & even Moyes.
There are frees availabe, Michael Ball, Thomas Graveson. If they want Jagielka then sign him stop messing about and get him in and move onto the next target!!!!!

Jagielka won’t be sold by his team until after their appeal to the league is sorted!!!!! The fucking club he is under contract to have already said that, and that’s not rumoured it is quoted by their manager!!!!! So how the fuck should we get him in if the team are still trying to stay in the league and won’t discuss terms. He has a release clause if they get sent down that will cost about 4 Million, but to sign him now we would have to pay more than that, as they believe they can win their appeal. I would love to hear all you bitching if we did pay over his release clause to get him now and have them lose their appeal. I think it would go something like this "Moyes is so inept in the transfer market. He should have just waited until they lost the appeal. We can’t afford to be wasting these extra millions of dollars like this!!!!"

Nugent has also stated over and over again that his future will not be sorted until after the Under 21’s. So how should Moyes sign him if he will not negotiate anything right now, if Moyes even wants his over prived ass??!!! All these players have been or still are involved in tournaments!!! Damnit you people are too negative. Things haven’t even started yet, or did we miss out big time by not signing the likes of Melchiot. It’s a chess game currently, with all clubs being patient and playing their cards close to their chests. And Fernandes was over priced, so get over it. He was worth about 6-7 million, but his agent owns half of him. So the club wanted the full value for him and so did the agent, doubling his price. It would have been ridiculous to pay that much over the price for an unproven player with a bit of "flash". If the likes of Marsh and Yussef were running the club we would be called Leeds United.

@ David Barks :

Fernandes is worth every penny of 10-12million. In 2-3 years time he will be worth about 25 million... just you wait and see.

And he has a lot more to his game than a bit of "flash". I do wonder if people have even see him play apart from his short spell at Everton !!!

Carl, if we had 40 Million to spend every off season like Newcastle and Spurs then I could see us buying him and hoping he comes good. But we don’t, and therefore cannot afford to take that risk. He would take most of our budget this year and we need more players than just Fernandes. Lets stay in Everton’s financial reality. Besides, I still wouldn’t rule out the possibility of arranging a year loan for him.
