Fernandes the “luxury player”?

I still can't understand why Fernandes is being labeled a luxury player. Where I sit in the stadium he looks the full package. He has got a good passing range, skills, strength, pace and he can tackle.
What is a luxury player? If its someone who can change a game then thats what Fernandes is. I see everyone questioning him. He dosen't defend. He dosen't track back. He dosen't dominate. For one he is not there to defend he is there to create. If anyone is going develop his workrate and defensive abilities it is David Moyes. Probably one of the most defensive minded managers in the premiership.
What sort of player is Arteta? He is our best player by about a mile yet he is not someone who is going to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The fact of the matter is Fernandes is going to be a big miss and we will notice next season. Who is going to do a better job than him next season? Phil Jagielka??? Some People have got it into their heads that Jagielka is a midfielder. Ask any Sheffield Utd fan and they will tell you he is a cental defender. He can do a job like Neville but is just as limited.
If Nugent is worth £10 million and Scott Parker worth £7M then Fernandes is a bargain at £12M. We are missing out on a player who could move us up a gear.

Fernandes has said he wants to join, but we can't buy him because of the dual ownership, or at least we can't until we sort it out, and with him being away at the moment, as with Nugent, Baines, and whoever else is in the same tournament, nothing will be done until its conclusion.
Jagielka also wants to join, apparently, so it's only a matter of time before the hearing is out of the way and we find out for certain.
he will be signed up by a big club soonish and in 2-3 years he will be worth about 20m +.
along with ronaldo, moutinho, and nani he is seen as the future of portugese soccer.
He was excellent last night and as when he lost the ball just outside his penalty area he executed a very skilful tackle about 10 yds in front of the goalkeeper to win it back. He made a mistake and made up for it immediately. Ok, Israel are hardly world class opposition but I’ve watched Portugal in every game and he has certainly got better with each match. He only played for us a handful of times, I’m pretty certain that a consistent run in the team would have produced more lovely football. His passing is deadly accurate and splits defences like a knife.
Manny brought a dimension to our game that no one in the existing set up (except San Mikel) can bring. M & M got the crowd Ole’ing on a couple of occasions, when did we last hear that at GP?
Call me picky but 12 million Euros is a lot less than £12 million quid. Personally, when you look at how the prices for players is going up by the second, I think he’d be worth every penny. Now that Portugal are out of the competition maybe there will be some clarity over his future. I’ll be crossing fingers and toes that they find a way of bringing him to us.
I know they’re not the best at volunteering information but if negotiations really had been abandoning they’ve generally told us that kind of thing. I’m still warily hopeful that there’s talking going on behind the scenes. Maybe Everton are testing Benfica’s resolve with a period of silence. I dunno, maybe I’m wrong but one report in one newspaper with no backup does sound rather dubious. Especially the Daily Mail.
