Silly Season...

Comments (3)

Ok, seeing as everyone's being so negative about our summer plans, and especially with most of the negativity revolving around opinion and hearsay, I thought I'd have a go at some optimistic speculation that may or may not be true, but has a healthy dose of truth to get the conspiracy fanatics going...

Mid-July, 2007, and Everton are training away from the prying eyes of British Press in Utah, USA, preparing to face Real Salt Lake. After previously enticing promising young goalkeeper, Josh Lambo, on an earlier training camp, Everton invite USA prodigy, and current RSL star player, Freddy Adu, to train with them, with a view to the most exciting transfer since Ronaldinho joined Barca. Adu, who plays either midfield or attack, is impressed by the team spirit and dazzling array of talent, including Manuel Fernandes, who joined on a season-long loan from Benfica, and opts to sign a 5-year deal with us, instead of joining Utd and Chelsea, with ringing endorsements from such pros as our own T-HO, former players such as Joe-Max Moore, Brian McBride and Preki, all MLS and US national legends.

Further news from Utah, Moyes has been busy with his second midfield signing whilst in the US, with Juan Riquelme joining THE up-and-coming club in the EPL. Moyes moved in as planned when Riquelme's current club, Boca Jnrs, also in town to play RSL, arrived at the same Hotel as the Everton Squad, to finalize a move which had been in the pipeline since January.

Who knows what a bit of positive thinking might get us for once... COYB!!!

Joe-Max Moore, a legend? Come on, he was crap! Adu has already trained with Man U and they didn’t think he was good enough.

Sorry, you’ve not managed to cheer me up.

Can we please not post in "unpredicatable cripple text" speak. As far as the original being silly, can almost vision Kev, Doddy and Uncle Remus hand in hand skipping down that a cartoon Kirby lane surrounded by bluebirds and the like singing their mantra

"Zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-de-ay,
My, oh my, what a wonderful day.
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way.
Zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-de-ay!

"Mr Kenwright’s on my shouder,
It’s the truth, it’s actual,
Everything is satisfactual!

"Zip-a-dee-do-dah, zip-a-de-ay,
Wonderful feelin’, wonderful day!"

First of all, I was actually trying to be ridiculous based on other such rumours of who we and other clubs have been linked with, and not even with a quotation from someone who was not someboy elses "source". At the same time though, i did link in to truthful events which have and will occur. It seems thats all a journo has to do to get millions excited or irate in an instant. People will no doubt whinge that Manny is linked to West Ham in the People, only 1 day after reading another article in another paper that it was "over for him in ENGLAND". Until his 3rd party ownership is sorted, he wont go anywhere, and West Ham being linked is obviously a swipe at them.

P.S. Adu is only just 18 and you cannot sign a player from the US who is under that age unless they go through your accademy, as is my understanding, and was the reason we never signed Danny Szetela. Also, have a look on youtube if you think Adu is THAT overrated, like any 18 year old, hes gonna have bad times, but he has undoubted ability.
P.P.S. Asside from the fact i actually liked all 3 of the players listed above (Joe Max, Preki, Bake) I did actually say MSL & US National Legends, not EFC Legends. If you are going to criticise, at least read what I write first...
