'In Negotiations'

Phil Bardsley? £2 million?? fucks sake.

If true, I wonder if that's the Jagielka deal dead. Bardsley played half a season up here for Rangers and was so-so. £2 million could be spent a whole lot better me thinks.

If this rumour is true, what the fuck is Moyes up to? Why do we need to sign another right back? In my opinion, if the £2M being quoted is right, what a waste of fucking money it would be. This money could be better spent strengthing other areas of the team, mainly the midfield.

Villa decided not to follow up on his loan deal with them last season, so, if he was not good enough for them, why the fuck are we interested in him? I know it's early days, but, this could be Moyes plan, buy loads of defensive players and play hoofball like most of last season.

I really don't understand why we are being linked with Phil Bardsley, I really hope it's not true. Having watched him for Rangers & Villa he is utter shite!!

He's a worse footballer than Hibbert, his whole game is to try & kick his opponent as much as possible. His crossing is poor, his distribution is very limited & his ability to win the ball in a tackle is SHITE!!!

We are becoming the dumping ground for Man Utd's rejects!!

You fucking idiots, it’s the news papers making things up. One paper prints a bullshit story and everybody flocks to this site to bad mouth the club and the direction we’re going in. SKy Sports has already said it is not true.

And how are we becoming the dumping ground for Man United rejects? How many players have they dumped on us, Howard and Neville? Because Howard was such a terrible player for us last year wasn’t he? I remember sitting there every game saying how horrible a signing Howard was for us. And Neville gets a lot of flack by some but the guy was fairly consistent for us and was useful to us as he was able to be plugged into the defense or midfield whenever he was needed due to our injuries this past season. Do any of you actually know anything about football and Everton?

Here here David. Seriously lads, don?t get yer knickers in a twist over every rumour you hear. So we have been linked with Phil Bardsley, big deal. It?s not going to happen. Some hack had a few column inches to fill so thought to himself

"i know, everton are trying to sign Jagielka who plays right back, that deal is taking ages and I am sick of reporting that story. I know I?ll link Everton with mmmmmmmmmmmPhil Bardsley....now thats a nice little filler"

Please do not get too despondent when we are linked with the likes of Phil Bardsley, nor should we get over excited when we are linked with Forlan or Riquelme or whoever. The only site worth checking for tranfers is the official one (sorry TW) all else is rumours & lies. I agree with those who say the silence for Goodison is deafening, a bit of info would be appreciated.
By the way I have read somewhere that Moyes is currently on holidays so can we put all transfer speculation on hold till he gets back??

I saw it on football365’s rumour page. When it says someone’s ’in negotiations’ it sounds a bit more than some guy making something up.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true though, all these thoughts of Fernandes or any other attacking midfielder and we end up with Phil fecking Bardsley. I would not be one bit surprised.

Yeah, because if it shows up on football 365’s rumor page it must be true, right? That really did not help your arguement.

Brian, how do I know that the papers make up these stories? Because the players agent has come out and said it is untrue. It would be in his and his clients interest to say that talks are ongoing to spark a bidding war, if there was any truth to the story. And the simple fact that we have been linked with more than 20 players in the few weeks since the season ended. Lets list all the players we have been linked with so you can tell me that the papers are so correct:

Bardsley, Grella, Zamora, Downing, Kapo, Lambo, Fernandes, Barton, Riquelme, Koumas, Jagielka, Nugent, Baines, Jason Roberts, Gary O’Connor, Nolan, Ya Ya Toure, Zenden, Gomes, Golan, Kightly, Alan Smith, Alou Diarra, Laryea Kingston, Pablo Ibanez, Frankie Simek, Matt Taylor, Luke Young.

I think that’s enough for now. Wow, that is one hell of a lot of signings that the papers and websites have us doing. I thought we were strapped for cash, or did Abromovich just buy Everton.

A good point, and very well made.

However, it would not surprise me if out of all those rumours, the Man Utd ones were true (Smith, Bardsley).

I have this feeling that maybe we have first dibs on unwanted Man Utd players...a gentlemans agreement perhaps....

jeremy, i hope that you’re right , if that means smithy is on the way to us. his levels of commitment appeal to any of us and he can play anywhere up front.

I actually wouldn’t mind Alan Smith either (I’m not giving legitimacy to the rumour mind you, just stating an opinion). I think he would be a hard working player for us, who does have some descent skill, and probably wouldn’t cost too much. He can also play in the midfield, since that’s where Ferguson had him at first, so he would fit the mold of a versatile player.

Sorry David, I dunno what I was thinking of reacting to a bit of transfer rumour gossip(!) Next time I see something, I’ll consult your rumour list before sharing it with people who I think might be interested.
