Alan Smith

My first real criticism of Moyes, why the hell has he let the little bleach blonde barsteward slip through his fingers? I'd have paid more than Preston are asking for Nugent to get Smith, up to around £8-9 Million yet it looks like he's going to Newcastle for £3.5 Mil. Hmmm, maybe Moyes is waiting for January to sign a cheap, recovered Louis Saha.

Opinions on Smith seem to vary but I'd have thought that in today's market, £3.5m is very good value. But a striker is patently not Moyes's priority and it seems as though he only wants to do things in a set order this summer. Jagielka, the "top target of the summer" (oh, deary me...), first and then we can move on to the next one. No thinking outside of the box, now. We have to be pragmatic and disciplined about this. Other clubs will respect this and wait for us to catch up before bidding, I'm sure.

Hold your horses folks, there’s been no official confirmation of Alans transfer to Newcastle and I think 3.5ml is a paltry sum for a top bloke and a hard working honest professional. I’m a Leeds supporter and have (blindly, you may say) suppported him through thick and thin I would love him to go somewhere where he’s going to get regular football and be a striker again. He did well until Rooney stole his thunder and then Ferguson wasted his talent by trying to get him to fill Roy Keane’s boots. I still anticipate a late bidding war from a couple of sides. I would’ve thought you lot would be well up for Smudger. If Owen’s staying at Newcastle Alan’s going to struggle but then again he’s a lot thinner than his old mate Viduka and would get more games than him....yet he and Owen are too similar to play together? (hmm?) Anyway, bid for him please!!!! If the Newcastle bid falls through I don’t want him staying at Man U. Its been torture watching my favourite player in Red.
