Have this on very good authority from a Dutch Football writer that we've won the race for the under 21 duo Royston Drenthe and Ryan Babel for a combined fee of £10m.
Great News if so.

Yea right... We are going to pay £5M each for two unknown Under-21s? I'll believe it when they are paraded at Goodison, if that's okay. It's not great news because it's not "news" ? just yet another tantilzing rumour... to add to the thousands we have already heard.
Babel is considered to be one of Holland?s best young players from what I have heard. Makes the link sound more fantastic. Who?s next for EFC? Riquelm...oh.

Dear lord, what a load of tripe. Drenthe I wans’t overly impressed with what I saw and Babel looked garbage to be honest. Fast but clueless. No thanks.

Babel is VERY well known and considered one of hollands brightest prospects for MANY years.
Drenthe is class left back who can also play in left mid, great at passing, great control.... very promising player.
10m for both would be an amazing deal seeing as babel is prob worth between 8-10m and Drenthe up to about 7m.
I cant belive some of you are judging them based on a few u21 performances... if you've watched that tournament in depth then you will know that the whole tournament has been pretty poor and very few players have played particularly well... does that instantly make them rubbsih? Of course not.
Neither will join Everton though, they will either stay in holland a bit longer with Ajax and Hereveenen or will move to some bigger clubs.

Don’t believe Dutch writers. They’re always high. This news is rubbish.
I do live in Holland as a matter of fact. Both players are gems and for some of you to slag them off is really unwise.
But Babel wants to move to Arsenal, it’s a deal lingering for over a year. Projected transfer fee: 6 million pounds.
Feyenoord has no intention to sell Drenthe, he signed a contract till 2011, Feyenoord do not need the money (or at least they say so) and claim they want to keep Drenthe for years to come. I doubt it if they consider 5 millions is enough. And rumour has it that Chelsea are already keeping tabs on him.
I really would love to see both at Everton and I think 10 million pounds is a bargain. If Babel was English, he would have been worth 17 million. But neither of them will join Everton. Stop dreaming.
