Get Ready!

Something tells me that the period of perceived inactivity is about to end... I say 'perceived' because we have no idea as to what has been going on behind the scenes..

Now Moyes is back off his hols and focused on 2007-08, expect some news this week and next of reinforcements. However, don't bank on Nugent ? he is simply not necessary. I suspect the Number 1 front pairing next season to be AJ and Cahill ? yes, Cahill playing just behind AJ but certainly not in midfield expected to track back too far. This will mean all efforts will be for midfield and full back reinforcements throughout the close season. Young James will be hot on the heels of Cahill and will offer us a different more robust alternative up front when needed.

The link to Cardiff's Gunter is interesting and by all accounts this kid could cut it at a higher level but he is one for the future. Personally I feel Baines would suit us down to the ground at left fullback, has a good engine and can certainly cross a good ball ? but enjoys getting to the byline ? something you don't see too often these days. Expect Fernandez to come back for another year and Arteta to sign a new four-year deal. Jagielka to displace Hibbert and expect a midfield 'enforcer' in the Nolan mould.

Expect a drawn out bid for Koumas. Expect Beattie, VDM and Naysmith to depart ? and McFadden to be retained and battle with young James and Victor for a place on the bench. I reckon we need to find a £15-18M layout to complete the picture above ? yes, that would all do nicely!

£18m is what I suggested in my Owen article and you called be a retard!!!!!!! :)

But, yes, I agree with the points you make - Nugent would be nice but not a necessity get the back 4 and midfield sorted then see whats left in the piggy bank!

We don’t need to ’waste’ 5-6m on a new left back -although of course Baines is a good player.

Nuno is a top class player who I think never really got going after the world cup, while Lescott made the position his own. I even thought Naysmith had some of his best performances in a Blue shirt last season when he actually played.

I still think Moyesy see’s Nuno as his first choice left back with Joleon and Joey Yobo as central defenders with Stubbs coming in as and when his leadership is needed.

my 2 cents as they say.

These key issues need resolving, take note Mr Kenwright:Arteta’s contract - can we match his ambition and wage demands, is he really going to stay?Ground issue - when is this saga going to end,its really starting to p1ss everyone off,Signings - Match Moysies ambition, he doesnt need crazy money, just enough to bring in a bit of extra quality to add to what weve got e.g. like he did with Lescott, Arteta, Cahill etc,Investment-How come all the sh1te below us can attract investors e.g. West Ham,City, Newcastle and we cant, if you love the club Bill move over. Failure to secure investement will mean these clubs taking over us, but if we do invest a little we can compete effectively in the league, cups and in Europe for years to come and finally Beattie - please fcuk him off!

"Expect"? Steve, are you a club ’insider’? When you say expect these things to happen, do you know something or are you just guessing like everyone else?

Midfield enforcer of the Nolan kind. Are you joking? Nolan for one is an attacking midfielder who fails to do his defensive duties. And the fact of the matter is he is shit end of. Just because he is a scouser does not mean he is actually any good.

Im still not sure about Lescott and Yobo. As individuals they are brilliant but both lack leadership. You need a speaker in the back four and neither are good at this.

I am really seeing us struggle next season. We need to play 4-4-2 yet Tim Cahill can not play in this. Moyes obviously loves Timmy so 4-5-1 it is. If it was me I would drop him or even sell. Imagine Cahill and Carsley as our two centre midfielders. Both cannot pass a ball.

People seem to be getting the wrong idea with Jagielka. I wouldnt pay 4million. Why pay four million on another centre half. And dont give me that shit saying he is versatile. Well he is as limited as Neville when playing the midfield role and no one seems to like him.

I really do stress that we buy Fernandes. He has all the ingrediants to move us up a gear yet people sit hear and fault him. Why? Because David Moyes wanted him to dominate man utd midfield. If I remember he played left wing for three quarters of the game. Who is bothered if he dosent run as much carsley or Johnson. He can actually play football unlike 95% of our team.
