Transfers

It's obvious that they'll be no incoming transfers, untill the Jagielka's saga's over. That's if we have any money to spend. Any money we do have will be spent at Pound Strechers and not Armani. Don't blame Moyes for that, blame Kenwright.
It seems like everytime we take a step forward, we then go take two steps back. While other clubs around us take a step forward every year. They're catching up to us while Spurs will be leaving us behind.
Here's another chance to take the club forward and our Board will fuck it up again, due to lack of ambition and finance. I've lost faith in Kenwright and Co. They can't even keep us fans informed of anything. The silence is getting to me. Can't take this anymore......

I think everyone needs to wait and see before getting excited. There hasn’t been a lot of transfers anywhere. I think if we jump straight in for anyone, we’ll start a bidding war, and against the likes of Villa and Newcastle and Spurs, we just haven’t got the funds. I don’t think it’s a good idea to make public the money we have either,(we’d be held to ransom) or who we want, like waht happened with Sissoko.
Phil i wasn’t suggesting the board to come out and tell every one how much money there is to spend on players and who the targets are. I was suggesting the board to come and say something along the lines of ’there is money available to spend on new players and we’re working on a number of targets’. Also it would be nice of them to inform everyone with the tescodome fiasco.
one thing i hope theyre seriously considering is getting Alan Smith. For 6 million (estimated quote) he’s well worth it ahead of risking that on Nugent. If we’re even still considering Nugent. He’d bring passion and fight upfront and cant see why he wouldnt link up with AJ very nicely. Boro are apparantly ahead of the pack although this is probably just a rumour. Surely he’d come to Everton over anyone thats been linked with him so far. Get on the phone moyesy!
Shaka, I have to side with Phil, but you come from the right part of the heart. Yes, it would be good to know more about what’s going on. We are a very long way down the totem pole and you wonder most of the time whether the big chiefs at the top really know what’s going on anyway.
As others have said before, DM knows he must keep his cards much closer to his chest, instead of being the scouting system for Ncastle, Mborough, Villa and the likes. You have to conclude that St David knows exactly what he wants, and how he will get it (perhaps given some other factors beyond his control), or we are fucked.
Mind you, bargain basement can yield stuff well worth having, given that they have the basics and you can make them into what you want - Lee C for example, and Phil N was no giveaway, but a bargain all the same. So hope and pray I guess. Remember, we don’t actually have any right at all to know more than we already do. But yes, it would be nice wouldn’t it.
As a lot of people have pointed out there haven’t been many movements yet in the transfer window but to say wait so we don’t get stuck in a bidding war, what happens if all managers wait and then we still ain’t got a pot to piss in with no time left to recover on third or even fourth choice squad additions we just have to get?
What teams outside of us and Spurs are taking a step forward every year? Newcastle, Boro, West Ham, City, Fulham, Charlton, Villa, Wigan. Lets see where each of these clubs finished over the last 4 season starting with the end of 2004:
Newcastle: 5th 14th 7th 13th
Boro: 11th 7th 14th 12th
West Ham: / / 9th 15th
City: 16 8th 15 14th
Fulham: 9th 13th 12th 16th
Charlton: 7th 11th 13th 19th
Villa: 6th 10th 16th 11th
Wigan: / / 10th 17th
Everton: 17th 4th 11th 6th
So which teams behind us are taking steps forward every year and surpassing Everton? Enough of the blanket statements with no facts attached.
Take a look at BBC Sport website at the transfers (think its in the Premiership part), no one has really spent much money yet, most activity has been free transfers and players being released, even Chelsea had Sidwell on a free! The madness is to come when most footballers have had their well earned / easily paid for holidays. Remember the Spain season has only just finished (hey, here’s a rumour, Eto’o has been spotted hanging round Goodison, he asked for Anfield and some scally directed him to our place, then offered to watch his car for £20).
