Proposals

Comments (9)

In my local area there have been proposals to re-locate the Town Centre but not on the scale of Kirkby. At the moment it is at the issues-and-options stage, with a draft masterplan to follow next year and commencement of work to begin in 2009. So how long if all is agreed before a new stadium is erected in Kirkby. Next year or within 3 years?

I don't think this continuance of exclusivity is good for Everton Football Club as it prevents ANY alternative proposals from being discussed at all. No wonder we cannot attract investment, who is going to buy a club that is so hamstrung? Bill Kenwright has once again ensured that nobody can alter his vision of the future.

If the fans vote against Kirkby, it won't be his fault we haven't moved forward; if Tesco's pulls the plug, again it won't be his fault; and if the Kirkby residents decide to veto the proposal, Everton will once again have to return to square one.

Not an ideal situation to be in for a club which says it wants to challenge the big boys. Mr. Kenwright should heed the proverb, never put all your eggs in one basket, it may prove disasterous.

Why did it not surprise me that EFC do not have any alternatives to the move to Kirkby? This club is totally mismanaged. Kenwright should be forced out, the man is a total waste of space. I cannot believe that, with all the hype of the Premier League that Billy Liar cannot find an investor who is willing and able to buy him out. An interesting comment by his sidekick Wyness ?everything has a price ? and no doubt when the move to the Tescou Camp is completed he will move on and leave us in the biggest mess ever.

I for one hope that the Kirkby residents knock it back. Then Bill can say, well I’ve given it a good try and then get on with the council to find a better site.
Selfish? yes, no doubt, short sighted? only time will tell and even then maybe not.
But like Lyndon said earlier...It just doesn’t ’feel’ right.

I am afraid it looks very much like the Kirkby move is a done deal.

Why, otherwise, is it necessary to have this seemingly open-ended period of exclusivity?

God Almighty! Can Billy Liar at least have the guts to come clean and tell us all that ’Everton is mine and nobody elses and fuck the lot of you, I will do what I want with it!’
I for one, would have a bit more respect for him if he did.

Good point Tom - I think if I were Billy Kenwright I would say exactly what you would respect if he did. He would be quite entitled to say the Club is his and eff off and if it was me that’s precisely what I would say to the lot of us. After all,we have no god given right to decide what’s best and what’s not best for EFC unfortunately.

Patty Blue, have to agree wholeheartedly and it does seem more and more convincing that BK is doing what he wants and nothing else but I don’t expect him to say so, his previous token Billy Liar quotes showed his true colours but even those seem to have dried up.

I think it will all go ahead; Tesco and Everton want it to make money from it and the Knowsley residents want it as it is going to create 2000+ jobs. Why is it all doom and gloom? I can’t wait to get in the new place... If the rest of us Season Tickets holders vote (if we get chance) to stay at Goodison then that WOULD be a disaster.

Whatever you say about Liverpool City Council ( and as politicians I would never believe all they say ), I would imagine that trying to deal with Kenwright and all his lies must be difficult to say the least. The man is like an eel - even in a bucket in front of you, almost impossible to pin down.

We never did truly find out what happened at the Kings Dock, did we? Somehow, it was all Paul Gregg’s fault, but do we really know that?

If I was a member of the Council, I think I might resent basically pouring tens of millions into what is not only a prvate limited company, but one that is seemingly majoritively owned by one person. That person appears to be so untrustworthy that he could accept all the handouts and assistance and then sell up, banking tens of millions for himself. In short, the council probably fear that they will end up effectively giving Mr Bill Kenwright millions of pounds, whilst the Club is sold to some foreign businessman and the public money s gone forever.

No wonder they are reticent to help!

Manwhile, I suspect Knowsley are taking that risk as they are in the shadow of the City of Culture 2008, need to try and generate jobs and are risking dividing local opinion on a massive gamble. They probably think that even if BK sells Everton FC on they will have gained a huge Tesco and a thousand jobs out of it all and lost only a tatty bit of park land and a college.

Spot on tom.I think if the shithouse did come out and feed us some information,he would get a tiny bit of respect from me.I also agree with most people that it is a done deal with tesco, and his attitude is that we are all just no-marks who he does’nt have to answer to.

Thanks for the solidarity Brian and Patty.

To add to my original comment... Billy Liar and Buster Bloodvessel know full well that they have us all over a barrel. Yes, we moan about surrendering our home to the Redshite. Yes, we know they will spout their crap about being the only club in the city etc, but Billy and Buster also know we will still go and watch the team in their out-of-town Meccano kit because we are true blues.

That’s what makes the two of them total shits, in my opinion. Selling the family silver for their own gain. Lets face it, they care nothing for the heritage and history of our great club. Look at the lack of action regarding the France Collection..... I rest my case.
