Just sign Nugent already!

Why haven't we signed David Nugent? He's 22, scores regularly, made the English squad from the Championship which is remarkable in itself, WANTS TO PLAY FOR EVERTON, ah.....so why aren't we making it happen? Proven, young strikers are hard to come by aren't they? When you have one that only wants to play for your club, surely you'd snap him up in an instant??

Why haven’t we signed Nugent yet? Possibly because Moyes watched the U21 Euro games and confirmed his suspiscion that Nugent is actually pretty average. I watched all the England games and Nugent certainly did not look anything special, Young, Lita and Derbyshire all looked better forwards. In fact I was hoping Pearce would bring on James Vaughan because I was sure he could have done a better job then Nugent. The problem with Nugent is that he has no top flight experience, no real pace, no real arial ability, sure he’s been called a poacher in front of the goal but Everton aren’t exactly known for creating loads of chances. Moyes is a smart guy and wont want to waste his transfer funds on a striker clearly overpriced.

Nugent is at best a 10 goal a season man and no btter than Beattie. Just because he’s a blue, doesnt mean we should sign him.

If DM rates Nugent and thinks he is good enough to wear Everton blue and given Nugent says he wants to play for us; it would seem that Everton should wait until the January window at least before attempting to purchase the player. The lad obviously wants to play in the Premiership and if he has patience then he could be at Goodison this time next year if not sooner. Why would Moyes spend a vast amount on someone he may be able to get for buttons within twelve months.

I really think signing Nugent will hold back Vaughans progress, he looks ready to take a major role in the side next season.

The funds are better spent on a winger and centre midfielder (Fernandes please)

Also the LB position worries me, Looks like DM wants to ship Naysmith out, Pistone already gone. Just leaves Valante who has fitness issues hanging over him.

Worrys me that Moyes seems more concerned in buying a RB, where Neville looked very handy last year and Hibbert and do a good job there to.

Bring in Fernandes, and Kieron Richardson and a few squad players for the Uefa cup.

If we must purchase another stiker, lets not blow 10mill which can be spent better elsewhere.

Why not Mike?

How many pacey, skillfull, left footed wingers are there these days.

Plus he chips in with goals, I think with first team football he could be a great winger.

Would you rather have Osman on th Left Flank all season, or maybe VDM?

Fuck Nugent off. We need a Midfielder and a winger before we sign anyone else.

Dennis,to tell you the truth mate,I don’t think Nugent is any better than we have already got.( apart from Beattie). He is hardly a prolific sriker.maybe at £2m to £3m he may be worth a punt.

I want to agree with Dennis, I think we should sign Nugent. I’ve watched him playing for Preston and a couple of U21 games and he has a lot of pace and a good touch. He also drops off and can run at people which would make him perfect for AJ.
I agree that Vaughan looks a great prospect but lets look after him and give him a rest when he needs it. Whilst 6-7mill may seem steep for Nugent it will look a bargain when he is scoring in the Premiership next season. Another point is that if we sell Beats for around 3 mill then Nugent would only cost a respectable 3-4 mill.
Finally, to Peter , we’ll only be a great club again when BK and his cronies are forced out of this club. Clubs like Blackburn , West Ham and Man City are being bought by money men we still can’t sign a player until the bank allows us to !! Says it all really.

Barry, who in their right mind is going to pay money for Beattie? don’t be daft.

To sign Nugent for 7 or 8 million would be madness.

Anichebe, Vaughn, McFadden, AJ, those will be our stirking options next year, sometimes we’ll play 1 up front. If we sign Nugent one of those has to go, that leaves us trying to punt McFadden and Beattie to clubs who won’t pay money for shite. it’d be crazy.

Never mind Nugent,Beattie and the rest of our strikers, bring the Dunc out of retirement, he was the only striker we have had that scared the life out of the opposition. Alan Smith is who Moyes needs!

Theres no point in signing Nugent, we already have AJ, Vaughan, Anichebe, McFadden (who may or may not actually be a striker!) and Beattie (who may or may not be a footballer)

We need a left winger, unless Van De Meyde gets his act together, which ’was’ a class one we should seriously consider Richardson. He’s young, English, pacey, skilful and experienced at the top level.

Nugent is unproven at the top level, averages a goal every 3 games in the Championship and is only really being touted as a target because he supports Everton.

Theres little sense in paying over the odds for a player that could easily fall flat on his over-priced face (no offence Dave)

We’d be better off using the money to keep Manny in the centre of midfield, get Van De Meyde sorted out and even consider Jason Koumas as cover.

Oh, and we will of course have a certain Mr Cahill back which will feel like a new signing.

Failing all of the aforementioned, just sign Messi, Puyol and Tevez and be done with it!

Typical. A lack of ambition by Moyes and the board to loose another player who wants to play for the blues. Yet again a reluctance to meet market valuations on players has cost us in keeping up with the top 6 clubs. When will they realise that we will fall at the first hurdle in Europe again because of a lack of strength in depth, and that players like Vaughan and Anichebe are prospects for the future, not capable of a full season long run in league, cup and european fixtures. Funny how Rooney was eased in at their age, yet now these 2 form the basis of our front line.
Everton need to realise that players are not worth the price tags they hold, but sometimes the price you see is the price you pay in this league if you want to keep up.
