No signings ? yet three senior players have gone (include VDM) ... getting a little worried now. We so needed to strengthen before these guys left so it's worrying that we need at least 6 players now to have a decent squad to compete on all fronts next season.

Those 3 players gone (Wright, Pistone and AvDM) have been gone for the past 2 seasons, we’ve just had to keep paying them.

So I don’t think we need count them as a ’loss’ to the squad, more like an improvement to the squad.

I agree. The loss of Pistone and Wright is probably a positve as we’ve got them off the wage bill. I’m rather sad about vDM as he showed glimpses of true quality. Yet, sadly, that’s all it was. Glimpses. Lets hope some of the younger guys step up to the plate. Does anybody know if this Kissock lad is any good?

Spambots have been intermittently flooding the site with junk comments — the anti-spam code requires human intervention. It’s not as secure as those curly image-based letters that some sites have — we’ll go that route if we have to further down the road.

The ’loss’ of Wright is a positive. I’m not being sarcastic here, it IS in our favour to ship him. The defence crapped themselves when he was playing. Our young keepers are not perfect but they are miles better than Wright. Shame really, the blokes got the ability, just lost all confidence. (Remind you of a striker we have?)

basically were screwed, i guarantee a mid-lower mid table finish next season. our squad is tiny and consists of 1 player with actual skill on the ball [arteta]. we are destined to watch yet more negative long ball football and all the players we are linked with do nothing but confirm the fact that moyes hates players with skill and loves players with none.

this lack of skill in the team will be the reason why we crash and burn in europe before we even get started.

moyes has done ok to get us to where we are at the moment, but its time for him and kenwright to bugger off and let the club progress. we need a new manager and a new way of playing, at times last season i was truly embarassed to call myself an evertonian. we played arguably some of the worst football ever seen in the premierships history and in a recent phone in poll on sky sports we also got chosen as the team who plays the ugliest football in the league !!!

yes this post all sounds very negative..but simple fact is that deep down you know im right.

C?mon, Peter. Be a little more positive. It?s only late June. The lack of news is, I agree, a little worrying but lets not get too down yet. I think we Evertonians are generally negative buggers. I know I am! I guess it means when we succeed, it?s much more of a pleasure a la 1995. Unlike the red-shite who think they have divine right to win anything and everything!

Unfair on Moyes re flair...after all he did sign Rodrigo..(I know it didnt work out,Arteta,Van der Meyde, fernandes (albeit on loan) so he does like flair and you must remember Moyes was a Celtci player under Jock Sten when Celtci were a great flair team..so he grew up influenced by that. The reality is he has no money..look at the papers Liverp..l signing torres the blues chasing Jagielka...once would cost a sixth of the transfer fee for the other..am sure Moyes would love to splash 27m ...so be fair

So what Peter is basically saying is we?re going to do crap this next season because we?ll be exactly like we were last season when we finished 6th... hmm... and of the players we are linked to such as Fernandes, Yaya Toure, Alan Smith, Defoe, Kightley, Downing etc, which are so lacking in skill or are you perhaps only looking at the ones that you want to see? It is truly shocking when a player like Jagielka, bought as a defensive (cover?) player isn?t skillful. I wonder if you?ve seen the lad from Swindon play to confirm whether he has skill or not?

Incidentally, Gavin, you say that Moyes should have signed players before selling the likes of VDM. In case you hadn?t noticed VDM hasn?t been sold yet and Pistone and Wright were out of contract thus we couldn?t hold on to them without re-signing them.

The lack of transfer activity still doesn?t unduly worry me because it?s largely replicated across the division. It?s just a bit boring.

Good point, John. Most Premiership teams haven’t signed anybody yet. It may be boring but we just have to sit and wait. We should certainly be in the market for good players if we can afford them. With Henry going, a Champions League place as Arsenal probably wont be so good. So lets be positive. We’ve got some bloody good players. We need more and hopefully they’ll come later this summer.
And hopefully Liverpool will waste lots of money on some Spanish shite, miss out on the Champions League, go bankrupt.....how beautiful that would be
