Everton has Lost something.......

I think Everton has lost something before the season has even begun. After Moyes statement on transfer fees we will now find it even tougher to attract quality players. Players with any ambition will not come to a club where the manager has already stated he cannot compete in the transfer market.
What must the players think we already have at the club?? I think Arteta and Cahill will be looking closely at this season before putting transfer requests in in Jun 2008 if we have another "glorious" season finishing in the top 10 and out of all cup competitions in the early rounds. The squad is painfully thin and thus cup competions will expose the lack of depth in the squad but the "Moysettes" will be happy with a top ten finish.
What will be the use of a new stadium we cannot fill?? Why didn't Moyes make his statement before we renewed outr season tickets ? We could of bought a Wigan season ticket for half the price but with double the ambition. We wouldn't buy one of course....and thats what BK and DM banks on...
Please both of you leave the club and lets have a Management team with ambition and Positivity...I only sense negativity at the moment.

Spiderman please explain how David Moyes leaving will help the club. I’m not his greatest supporter but I have to acknowledge that he has managed to create a happy albeit small squad of reasonably talented players. As regards Bill, well what can I say? I think all his chickens are coming home to roost at once and unfortunately it is Everton FC and its supporters who will suffer. A certain Mr Paul Gregg(no interest in football) is considering coming to the aid of a sleeping giant namely Sheffield Wednesday, funny old game football!

Peter, if you "only sense negativity at the moment" try pulling your head out your ass, because the only negativity I see is coming from so called supporters like you who constantly say the team is going to fail. If the players are so unhappy then why did Arteta, Cahill, just sign new five year deals, and Johson, Howard just sign last season. And the glorious season "we" refer to are not just finishing in the top 10, it’s qualifying for Europe. If Moyes and BK are so terrible please name me the last chairman and manager that got Everton to qualify for Europe 2 out of 3 seasons. How long ago was that and who are they?

David , try Peter Johnson and Joe Royle 1995 and 1996.

Hate to disappoint you Chorlton but we didn’t qualify for Europe in 1996, Arsenal pipped us on the last day.
Peter you are indeed talking out of your arse. We hear this nonsense about Moyes driving players away with his supposed lack of ambition and negativity yet every summer the key players sign new contracts. Yobo last year, Cahill and Arteta this year, Fernandes was supposedly driven away but actually said words to the effect that he’d like to come back. Not to forget of course the number of players who have made it clear that Everton was their first choice destination (and I’d put money on Smith choosing us if we stump up the cash). It’s amazing how this lack of ambition which you see as cursing the club only seems to transmit itself to a small section of the supporters whereas the rest either accept Moyes for what he is or laud him and the one’s that are actually affected within the game seem to treat him as a man of dignity, talent and ambition.

Chorlton, I know we won the FA Cup in 1995, but do you know what our final league position was that year. It was 15th, tied with Coventry City. And John Holmes already pointed out the 1996 season, so nice try but try again.

Also, to add to the previous comments that have rightly dismissed the initial outburst, who of you out there would not have renewed their season tickets if we came out and said, we were only going to sign Jagielka and maybe a couple of others? I know I?d still be getting mine because that is what being a "supporter" is about. All these people who threaten to not renew, who claim to have publicly ended there support, what benefit do you bring? Negativity is one thing, the stereotype of the bitter down trodden Everton fan is frustrating enough, but to lower that status to a bunch of fair weather supporters on top is taking it too far. Going to support Wigan as a cheaper alternative because they have real ambition? No way.

Well said Kev. I second that. Let them go watch Kilbane fly down the wings. I thought they slated him as rubbish though when he was here?

I’ve already agreed previously that BK has failed to find the necessary investment for this transfer window and beyond, but there is a quality article in the ’TIMES ONLINE’ which comments on the action in this transfer window so far and the prospects and reality for each Premiership Club. We fair very favourably in the comments made despite our lack of signings so far. What is also noticeable is whilst many clubs have made several signings, there are a good number who are also making a good job of balancing the books (for all Liverpool’s outlay their net spend is 12 million) so in looking at the clubs that have spent big so far only Tottenham and Man Utd stand out as clubs who’s net spend is well over 20 million. The hype of the extra TV money in reality has not resulted in overall outrageous spending from what I have read in that article, so maybe just maybe a lot of clubs can’t spend before this Tv money is in place, as contrary to popular belief the majority of this money has not been paid to clubs already and is done in stages throughout the season. This could mean there may be a lot more business done in the January transfer window. Does not help ourselves now and we may not end up with what Moyes wanted for the start of the season. but there are many clubs whose prospects are a lot worse than our own. Keeping the focus on the Blues, I believe we will still fair favourably and will not have the catastrophic fall from grace of the 2005/2006 season. The majority of the TV money may be ringfenced for the Stadium but I beleive there will still be more money available for transfers during the season with a chance of offloading VDM & beattie in January if they give it a go in the first 4 months of the season. The name of the game is progression. We all want success and better players playing for Everton. The right man is in charge of the team, but we can only hope those in charge of the club can turn our fortunes around with doing more to find new investment. We need to get behind the boys, but it doesn’t mean we can’t but pressure on BK and co. to sort the finances of the club out.

Peter, i acknowledge your statement and see some truth in it but i ask the question if Moyes had made this statement at the end of the season would youhave renewed your season ticket? Sounds to me that a supporter like you would be better of down the road supporting the rugby er i mean football club of Wigan

It seems that to please some fans we gotta buy over-priced players who don't give a shite if they wear the blue jersey or not! All I'll say to you Peter Parker is Moyes has learnt a little by wasting money on Beattie and Krøldrup and will not waste it again. Who that West Ham have bought would you want in our team?? No one. £5.5M for Kieran Richardson? That shows the state the transfer market is in.

Fact: the club was financially run like a joke for decades (including the great years of the 1980?s). EFC has a laughable marketing operation, even though it has improved exponentially year-on-year recently.
Fact: Bill K has always said he will step aside as soon as ?anyone suitable? comes in wih serious money. We should be thanking him for rescuing us. Yes, he?s a huge tit, but he?s a tit who means well for everyone. Except for the Kirkby BS - I?ll come back to that later.
Fact: David Moyes has done more on almost no money than the previous 3 managers put together. Yes, he is no stylist. But he can?t afford style. Yes, he sometimes is hard on ?talented? players. That?s because EFC have to scrap for everything. And, of course, Mikel Arteta has no style or talent, that?s why he is the mainstay of David Moyes?s team.
Fact: EFC are ?upwardly mobile? in terms of win/loss and league position, but they are still skint (see fact 1) and will remain skint (see fact 2) unless the club does a Liverpool/Man Utd-type deal. Would you rather have that? Have you not seen or remembered the ?Peoples Club??
Finally, the ground move ? yes, BK seems to want Tescoland. Wyness, however, seems totally opposed to it. I know who I?d put my money on, and it wouldn?t be Kenwright. Keep Everton In Our City, at any cost, even if that means non-Premier League. Seriously, I?d rather watch our Blues in League 2 than have them surrender the city to LFC.
Face it, EFC has been boracic for decades, thanks to wankers like Carter and Johnson, and Liverpool just sold their soul. Who else wants to spunk up a zillion quid for another ?franchise? in a city the size of Liverpool? Didn?t think so.
Come on you Blues, the People?s Club, the club we all love>
