The Mail Bag
It's simple: We're skint!

A couple of weeks ago, The Observer was looking ahead to the coming season and to the current round of transfer activity and it simply dismissed Everton as being perpetually struggling with debts and money problems. In laymen's terms, we're skint, fullstop.
For Moyes to claim that Everton are somehow attempting to redress the madness that is this summer's transfer market is simply ingenious. Everton have two choices: they pay the wages and the fees that the market dictates, or they miss out. They have clearly chosen the latter alternative. This may be because Moyes and Kenwright are fine moral gentlemen who are refusing to compete in this market, because it is yet another "unacceptable face of capitalism". Or it may be that they are posturing in the hope that you can fool some Evertonians most of the time.
Everton's debts are not in the same league as the debts of the big four, or of many other teams such as Newcastle, Man City, West Ham. So the reason Everton are not interested in bidding for £10,000,000 players is because the Board is unwilling to increase the debt because, unlike the other Premiership clubs, they believe that the spectre of Leeds United is closer to Everton than to any other club. This line of thinking is not
immediately obvious to me. It suggests that Everton are far more in debt than we realize or, more likely, that we are afraid to speculate in the hope of making progress.
But this moral posturing beggars belief. There is only one choice if Everton which to compete for a place in Europe or a domestic cup competition and that is to recruit suitable players and to do so you have to pay the wages and the inflated transfer fees.Any other decision is simply acknowledging thatyou aren't competing with West Hams, Portsmouths, Sunderlands of this world. Never mind the four clubs who are setting the pace and the standard in the Premiership.
So David Moyes, stop posturing and pretending: it isn't our moral superiority that's stopping us signing players, it's the simple fact that we're skint.

So Moyes admits Everton’s skint. Then what?
I think everyone already suspects this and accepts it as fact.
Like Moyes I wouldn’t want Everton to pay 6 million for a Nugent or 6.5 for a Richradson either.
Personally I just wish he would take more chances with a random and fairly cheap flair player from the continent or Latin America (there are enough there with EU passports)
Janczyk or Di Maria would do me nicely (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se6m0gchD6w)
