Fernandes

My heart skipped a beat as I read the headline titled "Fernandes becomes Sven's second signing". Thankfully it became clear that this is a certain Gelson Fernandes, not to be confused by Manny.

People seem to forget what our most glaring deficiencies are. To me, a class defensive midfielder is the most important signing that needs to be made. Barton always had a better chance of being signed than Nugent did. Once Barton went elsewhere, I knew Nugent was never going to arrive first.

Now that we have defensive versatile cover in form of Jags, surely Manuel Fernandes is the next one to pursue ? Be it a one year loan or a permanent signing, this is where the next transfer activity should be aimed at ?

I am happy to improve at the rate of 2 players a season, provided these players have the caliber of the Artetas, Cahills, Lescotts, Johnsons and Yobos of the team.

lol, yeh i nearly shit the bed when i read that headline on the bbc site. dunno why though, realistically were not going to sign him, i guess there is a vague chance we might get him on loan again...pretty unlikley though.

we only have about £3 million to spend anyway...if that !!!

It?s good to hear that I wasn?t the only one, who?s heart skipped a beat. But then again any player we?ve been linked with in any form so far seems destined to go elsewhere.

But I can?t help thinking that there?s a rainbow to all this doom and gloom. Shame there?s no pot of Gold at the end of it though..... but then again Beattie to ?Boro or Blackburn the papers are saying today!!!

Latest one I have heard is a swap with Blackburn involving James Beattie and Jason Roberts. To be honest I'm starting to fing this one a good idea as the thought of selling Beattie for 2 million pound and then just sitting on the money and hearing the same excuses of having no time to sign players really is a played out record with the management. If we are not going to keep Beattie lets at least replace him and ok Roberts is no better but hey Im getting desperate here cant you tell? I saw the Fernandes headline too and was convinced it was our Fernandes thankfully a gasp of relief came seconds later though.. The thought of Fernandes going to one of our rivals would be annoying as we know what he can do. Surely we must try to instigate another loan or something for him.
