Vaughan is Destined for Great Things

Despite all the negativity regarding Bill Kenwright's tenure and the lack of transfers into the club this close season, I am really excited about the future prospects of James Vaughan. Maybe still not the complete striker, but the kid positively oozes class all over the pitch when he plays. It may have been a dour friendly yesterday but he never stopped running, chasing and pretty much making a damn nuisance of himself all afternoon.

Regardless of any additional personnel joining the club in this transfer window, I can see a potentially very potent partnership striking up between Vaughan and AJ come the new season. The doubters among you will immediately come up with, "Well, what if one gets injured? Where's the cover going to come from?" etc. That is not my point here at all; it is purely the merits of one very talented individual and the prospect of a potent strikeforce full of pace and ready to attack opposing defenders at will.

True, some of the potency may depend on the supply from midfield, but this could be a very strong weapon the team may exploit which was not possible for large parts of last season. Whether this merits comment or not at this time, I for one will be looking to see how this partnership develops as well as a cameo role for Mr Anichebe as he continues his own development towards being a very useful Premier League striker.

Too postive a post for some at this time I don't really care! My own view is that, come the start of the season I'll be concentrating on the players on the pitch and giving the lads my full support, as I'm sure many of you will too.

I agree whole heartedly it is very exciting to have Vaughan progressing at the rate he seems to be. Anichebe as well will be a very potent weapon from the bench as he proved on more than one occasion last season. I think the forward line for next season will be (without injury) Vaughan and Johnson at home and Johnson and Cahill away. Both will prove effective in different ways.

I am still to be convinced on Victor Anichebe. At times he can look a little bit clueless and uninterested. At this present time Vaughan looks the better prospect but both should mature into very good players under the watchful eye of David Moyes.

I for one am happy to start the season with our current forward line, my concerns lie with ensuring we have the necessary players to give them the service to thrive.

Service will be the key. Stiffle Arteta and you stiffle most of ourn creativity right now. Hopefully having a young midfielder like Jagielka will take some of the pressure off Arteta having to do everything bar make the half time cuppa. Right now Ossie is the youngest midfielder we have and he is too inconsistant.

James Vaughan is the striker that most reminds me of a young Alan Shearer, purely in the way he puts himself about. If he scores half as many goals in his career he will be a runaway success!

I have to agree that Vaughan looks a very exciting prospect for the present and the future. I can see where David Gallant is going comparing him to a young Alan Shearer. I dont agree with the critisism of Victor Anichebe. Clueless and unintersted? The lad is laid back but he always gives his best. He is not as agressive as Vaughan and that may look like he is not trying as hard. The thing I am worried about is creativity. Where is it going to come from bar Arteta? I really do hope we get someone like Fernandes who can help out, dictate the game and give us a bit more class.

And Kieran Fitzgerald Arteta is younger than Osman as is De silva and Jagielka.
