Seeding Update

Well, the second round of the InterToto Cup has finished and we are now well on the way to getting a better idea as to whether we will be seeded or not. Now is the time to start looking around all three of Uefa's competitions, as the Champions League and the Uefa Cup Qualifying rounds start this week. But let's get back to the InterToto Cup for the moment and see which teams we want to root for in the final round (which starts next weekend).

Out of the 22 teams in the Third Round, 5 of them would be seeded higher than us if they get through to the Uefa Cup. So, this weekend, who do we need to support? Well, firstly, our Romanian friends Gloria 1922 Bistrita did us proud and actually knocked out Maccabi Haifa on penalties, and we can only hope they can repeat this against Athletico Madrid. The other 4 teams who may get our support are Cherno More Varna (who play Sampdoria), Dacia Chisinau (playing Hamburg), Chjornomorets Odesa (playing RC Lens) and FK Vetra who are playing Blackburn.

The first qualifying rounds of both the Champions League and the UEFA Cup don't give us much at the moment (but the second and third rounds will!). And, as regards seeding, there is still no change as we can currently be ranked anywhere between 18th and 45th place.
