Ballot on proposed move

Comments (14)

Does anybody actually think that BK an Wyness will listen to the outcome of the vote??? I am eligible to vote and know exactly what I'm gonna put but is it worth it? I think the club has already decided to move an this is just more crap to come out from the club.

I sadly am not eligible to vote - paying for Everton TV sadly does not include me as a supporter!!!

Major Announcement My Arse! I was under the impression that the fans vote for or against Kirkby was to ascertain whether fans wanted to go to Kirkby and if the majority of fans voted against the move it would not happen. In the 'Major Announcement' on the official website it states - "Everton Football Club today (Monday) announces that it is to hold a ballot amongst its fan-base to gauge the level of support for the Club's possible relocation to a new home in neighbouring Kirkby" and "we will be holding a ballot amongst our supporter-base to ascertain the level of support for a possible relocation"

Both of these comments suggest to me that the vote is no longer a decision-making vote by the fans and it is now just to see how much we all want / don't want to move to Kirkby. Am I stupid and reading this incorrect or does anybody else see it how I see it? I may have been really naive in thinking that the fans vote was going to count for something but today's comment has completely changed my mind.

So, the vote for a move to Kirkby is imminent with results expected by the end of August. After months and months of no information the fans are to be railroaded into making a decision without knowing:
  1. What the stadium will look like.
  2. Who will actually own it outright?
  3. How much of the turnover will be ours, will Tesco/KMB get a share?
  4. Will it affect team building between now and the completion date?
I'm sure you can think of many more but these are the basics in my opinion before any of us vote and they must already know the answers so, if all stacks up the way we are lead to believe, there should be no more need for secrecy, should there?

But something's not right, why aren't the club 'selling' us Kirkby, images of the proposed stadium at least, to 'swing' the undecided, me included? If they haven't drawn up plans for a stadium then we aren't at a costing stage so there is no need for a vote until the club know they can cough up their 'share' of the 'investment', so what's the rush?

Do they want us to say yes first and then build us a Pride Park, one main stand with a big shed around the rest of it, and shrug their shoulders and say it was our choice to move?

I'm not adverse to change but only a fool signs on the dotted line without knowing what he/she is signing.

Do EFC take us for fools? Surely not.

Steve its already affecting team building, juast look at all our major summer signings!

And as for the ’do they take us for fools’ i cant believe you dont already know the answer to that, incase you didnt its a resounding YES, basically they think were thick as pig shit!

I believe that representatives of the club visit sites like this and are able to keep abreast of feelings and emotions among the fans. The ballot on the subject on this site and the broadly similar ballot on WSAG (with broadly similar results) will I?m sure have been noticed by the current custodians and will have scotched any notions they may have had of this move being voted through ?on the nod?. Somewhere in the region of 3500 votes have taken place in the two ballots - something in excess of 10% of the number expected to vote in the official ballot. A fairly big sample. So probably they?ll either be resigned to losing, or more likely, trying to find ways around it.

So far though there has been no attempt by the club to ?sell? Kirkby to us, or indeed to give us any information whatsoever. We don?t know the costs to the club, what the place will look like, who will own it, what the timescales are, what the implications are of moving or staying put, where are the alternatives. etc. etc.

Why Kirkby, why now? Will BK put his name to this and resign if it?s not agreed to? What are the terms of the ballot - will there need to be a stated majority needed to move eg 75%?

Given all of the above how can anyone vote to move? A pig in a poke is not an option for this vital issue - the single biggest issue for the club for the next 50 years at least.

KEIOC have got an architect working on plans to redevelop GP - they say it?s entirely possible, but presumably at a cost. Unless EFC pulls its finger out and starts giving us some information about this whole thing, I?ll be absolutely astonished if the vote goes the way they want.

One final query - I wonder what the people who run LFC would prefer - us staying or going?

Agree with you lads above. How can you vote on something that you don’t know about?Maybe the questions on the ballot sheet will take this into consideration.Or,you never know, the club might just gauge the reaction and if the majority is against, they may drop the move to Kirkby. Then again, pigs might fly. Also, surely if the outcome is a solid vote against the move.Kenwright would have to look at other options?Wouldn’t he?

As someone who is?nt eligible to vote on the ground move can I just urge everyone who is eligible to make theirs count. I just hope that Evertonians, being the knowledgeable fans that they are, vote resoundingly NOT to move to Kirkby. We must not let Kenwright take us out of our own city. Voting not to move out of Liverpool may also hasten Kenwrights departure if he realises that he won?t be able to make a profit after a re-location.

Of course they’ll listen to the outcome of the vote. For God’s sake paranoia is getting completelty out of hand. These people are not complete wretches devoid of any decency...I’m beginning to think some Evertonians are just happy to wallow in self pity and remain pessimistic.

Brian Waring,

You?re not going to be asked to vote on something you don?t know about, are you. The club have said that they will publish details of the plans in the build up to the vote. Read the Echo article - http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_headline=33-000-everton-fans-to-vote-on-new-stadium%26method=full%26objectid=19463154%26siteid=50061-name_page.html

Come on lads, show a bit of common sense here.

It seems simple to me. If you don’t think all the facts about the move have been made known, then you vote "NO" - as I will be doing.

Tom,I,m going off the official sites statement. It doesn’t say on there anything about the plans being on view etc.Maybe the official site could have gone into what is going to be available a bit more?Just a thought.

I Think there are two ways to look at this first Kenwright &co are treating us as idiots or its typical of the lack of organization skills that these Muppet?s have either way unless something outstanding suddenly comes to light I?m voting NO to the move,NO to the continuation of running our club into the ground and NO to Bill getting his hands on the cash for the sale of Goodison how can we trust a liar with the cash from our last asset

The only addition in Dominic King’s article in tonight’s Liverpool Echo states....

’Everton will publish plans of the proposed new stadium and reveal the financial implications for the club in the weeks leading up to the ballot.

The board of directors will make a final decision on the club?s future ? guided by the results of the vote ? soon after the Electoral Reform Society makes its findings known.’I think the most interesting part of the statement is ’Guided by the results of the vote’ which I believe to mean if the Directors are happy with the percentages then they have the right to proceed. Which doesn’t mean that they have to have a massive yes vote to carry on with the scheme.

Brian,

In fairness to you, I read the Echo article at lunchtime and didn?t read the official EFC statement until after reading your comments.

Having said that though, I think it?s fairly obvious that the club - who are obviously keen on the move - wouldn?t expect anyone to vote on something without first making public their plans ?
