Cut-price stadium?

Comments (11)

Sorry if I've missed something but as I read all those confusing figures from Buster again, I'm left with the impression that the Tescodrome is coming in at a total cost of £75M. Now tell me if I'm wrong but what sort of stadium do you get these days for £75M? That's about a third of the cost of New Anfield and even Coventry's Ricoh Stadium cost more than that! As I await my ballot paper's arrival, I'm left with the distinct impression that we are being invited to exchange one shithole for another. Please somebody tell me I've got it wrong!

On the contrary, my dear Skelton, I don?t think it is you who has missed anything. Moving to Kirkby is one thing, moving to Kirkby to a ?nice stadium?, on which I will wager my left bollock that KMB are in for an ongoing percentage, is another. NSNO my arse.

Got it wrong? I’m not even sure of the figures.

"It is hoped Tesco will then be able to cash in its loyalty points and a new stadium, worth up to £75m, will be built for the bargain price of £50m.

This means the club will be left with probably only the costs of the internal stadium fit-out, which could be as low as £10m.

Does this mean the cost is £60m (50+10) or £85m (75+10) or is it just the £75m?

This means the price per seat could vary from £1091 (60m/55k) to £1700 (85/50k) depending on the 50-55k capacity.

Compare those figures with recent stadia;
KC Stadium, Kingston upon Hull £1,264 (2003)
New Stadium, Cardiff £1,292 (Tender)
New National Bowl, Milton Keynes £1,304 (Contract)
New Stadium, Doncaster £1,520 (Estimate)
City of Manchester Stadium £2,138 (2002/3)

Hope that has clarified everything for you...

...all we need now is a glossy picture of the stadium!

Sorry Dave but when you say "that we are being invited to exchange one shithole for another" are you calling Goodison a "shithole"?

I have it good authority that the figures he told us yesterday was just spin. The figure is believed to be £250m with EFC contributing 10%. Did anyone else like the comment on ?it wont affect team building? so where's the money gone then bully?

Anon,

So the figure is £250m and not £75m ?

What a load of guff.

Firstly, whatever figure is put forward initially, for ANY new stadium, the eventual price is ALWAYS a lot higher (Wembley, Olympics stadium etc.) so don’t pay much attention to it. We will end up paying a lot more.

Secondly, watch the capacity figure slowly dwindle. It was always 55000, now they’re saying 50000-55000, soon it will be "up to 50000", expect it to end up "40000 with the possibility of future enlargement".

Whena re KEIOC going to come up with a viable alternative instead of the shit they posted some weeks ago claiming it to be a "Plan B". I think they are more worried about losing their hamburger stands and chippy licences then anything else. I challenge KEIOC to come up with the goods (How, Where, When etc) or just fuck off.

Re:KEIOC,my arse. Before you start slating them, you might want to know, that they are having a meeting with bullshitter Kenwright in London this week or next to put all their proposals to him.One of which is to show him plans etc relating to the club redeveloping Goodison park.

Sorry to disabuse you,Brian, but the KEIOC chairman told listeners to TalkSport this morning that Kenwright had cancelled the meeting ’as the matter was now subject to a ballot’.Yet another’astute’ move by our slippery chairman!

KEIOC is a front for the manager of the Wilslow pub and his mates who can’t be arsed going more than a couple of hundred yards to see Everton play. Lets hope they set-up their own foorball team like the luddites at Man Utd did when the Glazers took over, they are still watching their new team play in the local park now while Man U move on.
