Kenwright should vote against Kirkby

I don`t live in Liverpool and haven`t done so for 30 years. Truth is, I found a nice little pad just over the border in Sefton where the grass was greener and the air a little more bracing and left the city of my forefathers forever. I mention all that because I need to rationalise why I am so vehemently opposed to my Club`s proposed move to Kirkby.
Richard Dodd called me a hypocrite the other day, but I don`t see it that way at all, because Brian Noble is not, unlike Everton FC, part of the fabric of one of the world`s best-known cities. Call it sentimental, call it pig-headedness, but I know in my bones that Kirkby is not right for Everton FC.
I believe it will be a move that future generations will come to regret ? just as our`s does over the failure to secure King`s Dock. That decision was made not because there was no way to fund it; it was about Kenwright losing the clout to control the Club. This time, he`s found a mate who sees a way to use Everton to achieve his own ends. They deserve each other.
Paradoxically, Blue Bill may just be about to shoot himself in the foot. My gut feeling tells me that if he forgets all about a ground move at this time and concentrates on funding the team`s development for the next five years, it is inevitable that continued success will attract just the type of investor he has always looked for... one who will make him rich beyond his wildest dreams!
Kirby is a quick fix to a not-too-pressing problem. I shall vote against because it`s not right for Everton. Kenwright should do the same because it`s not right for him either.

We’re getting a new stadium - on the cheap. Goodison is old and decrepid and is badly in need of a replacement.
And as for ’Everton FC, part of the fabric of one of the world’s best-known cities’ Everton is more well known for being a Merseyside team, not a Liverpool team. Merseyside Derbies? All Merseyside cup finals of yesteryear? And last time I checked, Kirkby is part of Merseyside (it’s even got Liverpool postcodes for pete’s sake!).
