To own or not to own?

Bully says that the new stadium will be 'leased' ? albeit for 199 years ? but is this really Everton's stadium? What are the conditions of this lease regarding profit sharing etc ? I would like to see these details on my ballot paper.

Clearly Everton are skint so there is probably no other viable alternative ? other than for Kenwright to step down and sell the club to a Sugar Daddy. I am not seeing press reports of people queuing up to buy Everton ? even if they were getting rebuffed surely details would leak out of approaches? So, perhaps potential suitors are watching and waiting for someone else to finance the new Stadium and then move in... they would be mad to rush in now and have to finance a new stadium. Whilst I have major concerns about the relocation, I fear that this is Everton's only chance to generate additional revenue without a major investor purchasing the club outright.

Well, we're on our way to Kirkby whether we like it or not. We're getting a meaningless vote which makes no difference whatsoever. By the sound of it, we won't even be getting a stadium befitting the club's stature and motto. (I can hear it now: 'Small club, Shit ground') I guarantee you there will be a further sting in the tail over ownership or profit sharing with KMB. But hey, at least you saved us from Agent Johnson. FFS...

We will not attract any investors with this lease arrangement. The whole spate of club purchases have been at clubs that own their own grounds so locking in potential revenue.

I would also like to see the details of the profit sharing but I supsect it’ll be opaque as hell..

Did anyone really think that tesco would build us a stadium and just hand it to us as long as the club paid for the seats?

In the absence of any real details on the stadium yet but the fact that it is to be based on Cologne’s Stadium which incidentally cost 24 million Euros (approx 16 million pounds on construction) (The proposed Kirkby stadium allegedly circa 75 million). The following link supplies more than a couple of 3D images of that Stadium.

May still not seem like much to people especially because of the red seats, but even allowing for inflation and the cost of the extra seats circa 15million, that 75 million figure would still allow the quality of the overall stadium to be better.

I am against a Kirby move still but I don’t think the 75million cost is going to leave us with a poor stadium wherever it might be.

All figures exclude stadium fitment costs, and outside the stadium infrastructure which would also be additional to the 75mil cost as well.

Obviously some of us will never be convinced regardless and some will be worrying about what any new stadium might look like, so it is only giving an idea in those pictures, but its something to work on.
