ToffeeWeb - Season 2007-08

The Mail Bag

Yobo's charity

I just came across this story on the BBC website. I don't know if anybody had already mentioned it but it is a good piece about one of our players doing some very good humanitarian work. A good thing for a player from our club to be doing and a good thing to see in a world where players seem to only worry about getting a bigger contract on a weekly basis. I have pasted the link, but maybe the ToffeeWeb team can set up an automatic link or a summary on it.

I think that’s a pretty poor attitude to be honest Michael. You are someone who has commented a number of times on the overly commercial, cynical game football has become. I know a player’s charity work makes no difference to the here and now of EFC, but I also think that corporate and player greed will continue unabated whilst people in the game continue to think of nothing but themselves. I applaud any indivdual who thinks a different way! Well done big Joe!

Tom, I don’t see any comment from Michael. Did I miss something?

David

You didn’t miss much and common sense has seen it retracted.

Tom and David .....agree that any story painting anything to do with Everton in such a good light should be highlighted.

We heard enough about Shandy Andy and Moyes’ motor..............is it suddenly a crime for one of our players to do something good?

Joseph.................I applaud you and urge you - if you ever read this site - to ignore the ill/mannered bleatings of the dumb and the cynical who sometimes hang about our club site like the proverbial bad smell.

PS - maybe it is just ’paper talk’ and yes Stuttgart is a great city and a good club which will be playing a lot of really big matches in big competition this season but we need you , sir.

A lot of us like you , admire your play and hope like hell that you will stay on at Everton !

Top man, Yobo. If only other footballers would follow his lead.
