Full squad

I know I am jumping the gun a bit but assuming Vogel and Pienaar join up I see this season's squad looking pretty full. The only spot I see needed to be filled is maybe another attacking central midfielder.

Here's what I've got:

Valente(Lescott)(Boyle)
Carsley (Vogel)(Jagielka)
Arteta (Pienaar)(Vidarsson)
Cahill (Osman)(Anderson)
Pienaar (Van der Meyde)(McFadden)
Johnson (McFadden)(Anichebe)
Vaughan (Beattie)(Jutkiewicz)

With the overlap sure but each position is covered pretty well.

Of course now with Vaughany's injury things could change but altogether I think we've got a full squad if these two guys sign.

Take away Boyle and Vidarsson as untested quantities (which they are) and then its obvious to see that our most glaring deficiencies are on the left side of the park.

Maybe a left winger (rumours of Rafael van der Vaart and Baines aplenty on footbal-rumours.com).

Vaughan’s injury might be a blessing given the form of Anichebe and Jutkiewicz. It can only be healthy for us when, on his return a player of Vaughan’s ability has to fight for his place.

Unlike Van Der Meyde, Beattie is a coward and a quitter, who spends our money but won’t even fight for his shirt...
13 goals in 2 1/2 years, Take him out!

Only one spot left to fill..? Riquelme, Riquelme, Riquelme!!!

We could use some addition in defense (preferably left, as Jason points out) and some addition in midfield wouldn’t hurt either (again left).

If we get another striker in, it better be a really great player, otherwise we could as easily give Anichebe and the likes a chance.

Full squad? You can take out Beattie, Shandy, Anderson, Boyle, Vidarsson, Jutkiewicz and even Stubbs. They are either crap,sorry thats a bit harsh, not up to playing at a european level (yet for the youngsters) or have no experience in the premiership never mind europe.

So if your happy with maybe pushing for a european place again and gettin knocked out of all cup competitions pretty early on i suppose you could say are squad is full.......

Eh- there does seem to be an over reliance on the Jagielka family to cover certain positions (unless we signed more than the one I’m aware of ?)

What happens if he get’s injured or if two of the players in positions he’s covering get injured at the same time ???????????

We’re definitely far from being in the clear...Vaughan is going to be out for the guts of two months, and given Johnson and Anichebe’s penchant for getting injured the front is still shaky.
Top that off with the Vogel thing (as Steve has mentioned) and the fact that i’m just WAITING for the Pienaar thing to hit a ’snag’ also (or for someone else to swoop for him last minute), I won’t rest easy until things are more definite!
