Reason to be cheerful

I know this will sound a very basic and obvious post but I think that it is something we need to think about.
For once in recent times we actually have a number of very positive issues to be debating and arguing about. I think in all the commotion we have lost sight of this. I know the stadium issue is divisive but it's a new modern stadium we're discussing. All the talk before has been about 4,000 obstructed views, a ramshackle ground.
I can remember being sickened at the sight of Ball, Jeffers and Dunne going out the door. Our best talent being flogged off just to exist. This summer we have signed Arteta and Cahill to new long-term contracts. We have held on to the best squad we have had in some time without any fuss or hoo-haa. We are even looking forward to European football. We can all remember only too well the bottom-half finishes and relegation scares.
I know only too well that things aren't perfect, and that even the positive points above could and should be handled a lot better. But, in all the argueing and giving out that we as Evertonians are doing (myself included), we should remember where we have been in recent years and what sources of debate and argument we have had.

The point you make Kieran{ where we have been in recent years }can be applied to nearly every club starting the PL this season.
Dont you think that supporters of clubs like
West Ham,Sunderland,Reading,Spurs
,Newcastle,Wigan,Bolton,Derby, and even the likes of Liverpool could all say the same thing as you?So what does it mean?
Everton may or may not of moved on and have better players since the Smith days but so has every one else bar Leeds.
The trouble is mate that we are about to be left behind big time by most of these clubs and BK wont or cant do a thing about it.
Take a good look around at whats going on atalmost every club in the top flight except for EFC and then tell me its time to feel good. I am more worried than ever.

Somewhere between the optimistic view and the fear is where Everton Football Club lie, and that’s the problem. Spurs are probably the only club outside the usual suspects who can rightly claim to have improved both results and sqaud in the last few years. You could argue that Everton have gone backward i.e. 4th to 6th, but I think this current squad is a lot stronger than the 2005 squad. I also believe that due to the board and its handling of major issues, there is a greater pressure on the players than there ought to be. If the players could just play the game, rather than having to gain results to improve the clubs image, perhaps those results would come easier and the confidence would rise. I think we have the right manager(sorry Tony) for our club at this moment in time. He will yet again get more effort out of his players than most other managers, but alas I don’t think poor David will have the success that he and the supporters crave.
