Pienaar a Toffee already?

Comments (6)

As you can see, I live in Holland, the country where Pienaar plied his trade before moving to Dortmund. Now reports in the media here suggest he signed a contract around midnight last night. Could be the club is waiting for the medical to bring the news, or something like that?

I hope so. He could be another Moyes masterstroke (or another Koldrup). But at least if his on loan first, we get to try him out. More players the better, and fingers crossed its announced soon.
Now if we can add Bouazza for Watford as well, I will be happy.

Just asking Erik do you rate him? What type of player are we looking on getting. I have seen clips and games of him when he was a kid but since then notning.

He’s got skill allright. But he’s a lightweight, a fart will blow him away. Never gives up though, has a really great mentality, does seem to have good vision.

Just don’t know if he can cut it in the PL. Ajax got rid of him because they were of the opinion he didn’t have the physique to play football at the top level, and the Dutch competition is not as physical as the PL.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXSd_lNEdHY is a movie were you see him nutmegging his opponent (Zebina of AS Roma if I read it correctly on the back of his shirt) in the Champions League, and in a functional way as well.

Wouldn’t hurt us much to loan him and see if he can adapt to the style of play. I give him the advantage of the doubt.

I was very impressed with him back in his Ajax days. If he can reproduce that sort of form at Goodison, we’ve got alot to look forward to. I guess if you have great skill and a good turn of pace, then you don’t really need size. Me thinks he’s a good replacement for Osman in the first 11.

I just talked about him with some colleagues. Ajax didn’t get rid of him because of his poor physique exactly; they just said he didn’t have the physique to play in central midfield and played him at the right wing. He wanted to play in center midfield so both parties agreed it was better to part company. Just to rectify things.

Moreover, the story tells us he is a player who can play in more positions, he just doesn’t like it. But a little versatility is welcome, of course!

I have been told about him being lightweight but so was Arteta before he came to us. Is Pienaar quick? If he has pace then he could solve a lot of problems in our slow midfield.

We need someone with quality on the ball and he has a good work ethic I am told aswell. What is he like compared to the redshites Ryan Babel?
