The Mail Bag

No plan B, I quit

Comments (23)

Cracking article by Kevin Latham. But at the end of the day, actions speak louder than words. The club know how we feel but still think we are going to be like sheep following black sheep Bill to Tescoland. I live and breath Everton, but I aint going to get dictated to by P W Botha and "I love everyone" Bill.

Well, if they are going to go down the road of YOU DONT MATTER and put their rubber stamp on Plan A and it may be soon. I'm finished with Everton. I for one will ask for a refund on my season ticket in the next week or so. And I'll bet any money if we all do the same, Plan B will appear. The half-faced cheeky bastards treating the best supporters in the land with no respect whatsoever.

FFS, there’s going to be a vote in a few weeks and you’re complaining about the club not listening to you. Couldn’t you just wait the outcome of the ballot and the subsequent actions of BK and KW?

Some people do pen a load of bollocks to the Mailbag!Colin, old, son, whatever makes you think Everton is ’your club’?It belongs to those who control its shares and you-like me-are just a ’follower’.If the Directors want to de-camp to Kirkby,St.Helens or Warrington, there’s fuck all you can do about it.If you’ve made the decision to cease ’following’,that’s up to you.Bill wont shed any tears, believe me!

I’m of the same opinion Colin. This isn’t the Everton Football Club I have followed for over thirty years. I also know that several of my fellow season ticket holders / shareholders won’t be going to Kirkby either. 50,000 seater stadium? I think 25,000 should suffice.

Come follow the Rovers then Colin, pity you dont support your home town Club. My Lorraine would love to have you over at Prenton Park, she does a lovely half-time hotpot. Your wasting your hard earned with that jobbing actor Kenwright, oh Birkenhead is wonderful.

The phone number for the box office is 0870 442 1878 mate. Ring them now and give your season ticket back to a proper blue. Fans like you make me sick and we don’t need you.
I bet you fucking don’t though!

Just to clarify matters. I stated that I was of a similar mind to Colin as regard to not going to Kirkby, I necver said amnything about handing back / selling my season ticket. As long as Everton play at Goodison Park I’ll be there, as i have been for the past thirty odd years. What I’m not prepared to do is go to Kirkby to a Meccano set stadium with Tesco as sponsors.

I’ll tell you what makes me sick. I’ll also tell you what I think is a disgrace. The fans who will put up with anything and follow "Blue Bill" like sheep without questioning whether it is the right thing to do for EFC in the long term. The fans who swallow the unfounded garbage that Wyness comes out with to sell the move to the hard of thinking. It is these fans who will legitamize Kenwright’s capitulation of the city of Liverpool to LFC. If we hold fire for a few years (Goodison isn’t exactly falling apart around our ears) an investor who CAN afford to build a decent stadium or,even better, rebuild GP,may very well appear (look at Villa, Newcastle, West Ham etc). For that to happen though Kenwright will have to let go of his toy box and that isn’t going to happen without a struggle. Perhaps that’s where fans like myself and other true Blues who can see the demise of our club that would follow the Kirkby move should focus our efforts?

Fuck off then, its people like you that do every real evertonians heads in! Its all well & good remembering the glory days (Bayern semi, winning leagues, Joes cup run) but the real fans were soft gets like myself when we were scraping 20,000 v sheff wed or Oldham in the early ninties. I mightnt agree with move or players we sign or sell but I’m a blue, always will be. Read this post, its all about fans like you (http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/06-07/comment/mailbag/mailbagitem.asp?submissionID=902

To follow on, now I’ve calmed down a bit. If your so against anything the club do, as much as to not watch us anymore, then do something about it. Be proactive if you ’live & breathe’ the club. But if your support is as flimsy as I think, then my earlier post applies......go & stay gone. Your not welcome.

The reaction here to Colin’s notion is understandable. How many times have you seen or heard of season tickets being used against a club as some sort of paper version of the sword of Damocles - only for the the club to simply ignore the apathetic protest.

For your own sake get real Colin; your actions will generate no response and you will be left with a massive void in your life simply because your heart ruled your head.

Look at it this way mate. You probably travel the length of the UK to watch EFC like the rest of us, yet a 4 mile treck to the heart of Stockbridge is such a issue. I admire your stance but doubt your judgement.

Everton - Whereever!

I would travel to the ends of the earth for Everton because I love the club like it?s a part of the family. All of you "I?m finished with Everton" pricks do not, cannot love the club like I do. Please carry out your "threat" and fuck off, because it will be tedious to see you pouting all over the mailbag the next time the club does something that you do not like.

Yes get real Colin and grow up FFS. Like JL I was in the sub 20000 crowds of the 90’s- were you?
I’m not overly keen on moving to Kirby even though I live less than 1 mile South form the proposed site. We don’t need such fickle supporters but it is your choice after all and your money. I’m not the greatest evertonian in terms of travelling to all away games etc- but I would never dream of doing anything approaching turning my back as you have suggested. As said more than once EVERTON TILL I DIE and many have and will carry out that commitment.

The main point i,m getting at is. The club says they are asking the fans to vote to stay or go with a priviso saying if it goes against, the vote wont matter, we are moving anyway. why have a fucking vote. Why wont they let LCC comment?because i,m sure warren Bradley is biting on the bit.FUCKING WHY?.
Steve Williams
14   Posted 20/07/2007 at 11:58:53

Thats the point Colin, Bradley has commented- his words were to the effect ’I am not prepared to waste £50m of Liverpool Council taxpayers money on providing land for Everton FC.’ Now get me someone who can pay £50m for the land £100m to £150m or more for the project and we’ll be in business inside the so called city boundary. Its that easy really isn’t it?.

On the voting side I believe strongly that those that can vote will reflect strongly the walk up crowd too who we can’t estimate what percentage object. So believe it or not it would not take as much as a landslide of 80/20 against to make the board reconsider. If you say it was 50/50 split then if you applied that to the walk-up crowd too, the board would be alienating well over half of matchgoeing fans around 25000 IMHO based on our average gates, even before casual match-goers are taken into account. That number of match fans unhappy is far too many for the board to ignore I would think you would agree as that would leave them with well under 20000 definitely still willing to move- far too low a figure for them to take a risk- remembering they’ve mortgaged season ticket sales for another 20 years yet against the securing loan-so they really could not afford to lose so many season ticket sales without charging Arsenalesque prices which then they wouldn’t sell enough anyway. So I would not be too worried about the board saying it doesn’t matter because it does. They are a business and will not risk that amount of £ signs being lost because they can’t afford to in all honesty.

In your defence Colin, I understand you making the points if you hadn’t heard what Bradley had said about not providing the land even though they’ve done just that for the RS and given them regeneration grants too-One rule for one heh!- we’re used to it though so nothing should surprise us really!!!!

Jeez, someone got out of bed the wrong side. If the club moving to a new stadium makes you want to not support them anymore, maybe you need to question why you follow football in the first place? I’m astounded to see such reactionary views, but I have to say its made me laugh too!

These people saying we don’t need this type of fan etc. I think you will find we need ALL our fans, we haven’t got masses of fans on waiting lists or millions of out of towners waiting to fill their seats. I know some fans who have been home and away fans for decades (not a few years) who are considering jibbing it if we go to Kirkby. These are not fair weather fans, they simply don’t like this plan to relocate outside the city. They have genuine concerns about how damaging this could be to the club both in terms of its perception/branding to all future local fans, and the basic logistics of getting 40-50,000 there each matchday. There are a multitude of other concerns too. Just telling genuine supporters to F*** off is hardly a serious debate is it?

Way to go Colin. Stand up to bullshit Bill.

Fans holding the votes must realise what exactly are they voting for? Bill & co. are just trying to confuse everyone by linking the move to Kirby and the need for a new stadium.

Most agree to new stadium (or a refurbished Goodison). But for the the club to sell the idea of "No Kirby, No New Stadium", do or die, is sheer bollocks.

Well said Tom Hughes. These people who just come out with "Well fuck off then"haven,t got the brains they were born with. They just can,t think for themselves
Eric Dols, yes,we do have a vote in a few weeks, the trouble is,we know the result don’t we?!

Well, I am not a season ticket holder, but will be with the new ground in place. I am ecstatic, this is great news. If people can’t be arsed going to the new ground becasuse they can’t walk there then fuck off, I hae to come from Chester, I’m not concerned. We will get new season tciket holders to replace the ones destined to move over to New Anfield... pricks.

Why is the need to abuse fans who have concerns about the move are we all now of one mind some get upset that fellow blues wont be going to Kirkby ,Yet these same fans say nothing about the missing transfer money or all the selling of our assets I don’t believe many fans trust Kenwright and that is the main problem I will now await the abuse IM going to get
