Shandy won't fly, WTF

Comments (27)

Only days ago I posted that I was optimistic about Shandy having a good season; now, I read that he is not going on the tour of USA because he doesn't like flying. Ok, Andy ? you take it easy; we will go and play some games and get sharp and improve the team morale and togetherness. Should have sedated him A-Team style and thrown him in the cargo hold. Soft twat.

Lucky for us the Uefa cup final is played around the corner ;)

It shows just what a special place footballers hold in our community. If part and parcel of your job is flying frequently, you should try and make the most of it.

I think it’s only to his own disadvantage not to link up with the team in what is considered the best time to forge the real team spirit that gave Everton a lift in recent years.

Your right Erik it is to his disadvantage but also to the clubs unfortunately..Again the reports couuld be wrong, he may have picked up an injury again or Moyes may hev left him behind because he does not want him there. Maybe he cannot be trusted to stay off the Shandy when enjoying his free time in the USA.

Guys the Club are off to Salt Lake City, not exactly a dry state like Saudi Arabia but with the mormons being anti-alcohol maybe Shandy was a little worried he would have trouble getting a bevvie. This fella is a total wastrel, its only that no other fucker wants him and he has another couple of years to run on his contract that we cannot get shut of him.

I watched him at the Northern Ireland game and his touch, control and general demeanour led me to the conclusion he doesnt want to play for Everton or that he already is lined up to leave.
His attitude stinks and the sooner he leaves the better, what has he ever done except cost us money and damaged morale.
If you had an employee who continually broke your rules of employment, who didnt do his job and was bad for staff morale, would he not be sacked? Goodbye Andy Van Der Merde!!

Fellas calm down! There are lots of people in Holland that don’t like flying for what reason I don’t know. When I was working in a holiday resort in Spain all the Dutch tourists came down in their masses by coach. So give the bloke a break. If he don’t like flying then so be it, remember a certain Dutchman(Dennis Bergkamp) at Arsenal who missed lots of their European away games due to a fear of flying. You are right though it will be his loss but maybe just maybe he’ll prove most of us wrong this season by staying fit and playing more than 1 full 90mins.

I say we follow the advice of Billy Connolly. Get him trollied and bundle him through passport control!
Its not as though he’s teetotal is it?

53 goals in 70 games as a wide midfielder in a league notoiously hard to score in!! Do you honestly think we could have got him for £1.5m if he had that kind of record or would be having such difficulty getting rid of him?

You are taking the piss PL PL?If he had 53 goals in 70 games, why would Inter have wanted to get rid?Plus for a player with that ratio(better than most world class strikers)in todays market you would be looking to pay about £25m.I think it’s a touch of sarcasm and piss taking on your part.

Didn’t they fly to Northern Ireland. Im sure I have seen pictures of Van der Meyde on a plane with the rest of the team. It is probably just a typing error.

Some fans on here are jokes. How can you tell someone doesnent want to play for the club by a preseason freindly? I watched both the Prest and NI games and although he wasn’t brilliant he worked very hard. And since Van der Meyde came to this club Moyes and the fans have not seen that. He has talent, he wants to do well so we all should just give him a break. We can not afford to lose players end of.

It maybe Toffee spin that this excuse has been made for his non selection due to bad behaviour... but I’ll take it for face value... if he had screwed up in someway I think Everton wouldn’t do any more protecting of him... unless they feel they can get a fee for his services... or maybe he realy doesn’t like to fly... oh stuff this, I’m off to watch bargain hunt.

With regards to Andy Van Der Meyde, playing for a club as prestigous as Everton Football Club comes with a lot of baggage. Some simply handle it better than others.

If he has a problem we shouldn?t single him out. He?s the victim. We should show him our support.

The question we should be asking is how we can balance Andys football attributes with his intake of sauce. Throughout history this country has seen many a great footballer scoring goals and mezmorizing defenders (Merson, Best, Dalian Atkinson).
These men can be also seen down the local with their clubs fans, the real people... Like you and me.
After all is Everton not ?the peoples club???

With regards to the pregnant prostitute it wasn?t 48 hours before a match so i ask, Whats the problem ?? Give the man a break, what he does in his own time is his own business. I do recall that Mr Rooney was fond of the same but we were all up in arms when he decided to leave. We called him traitor!! At least we know Andy is loyal. Also he?s a great character in the dressing room. He has a funny dance that cracks up the likes of Johnson, Cahill and Arteta. Are we not happy with these 3 players contributions last season?? Come on.

I suggest possibly bringing in a motivational coach. The likes of George Graham would be advisable, who throughtout the 90?s succeeded in getting the best out of Adams, Parlour and Merson.

Come on Andy !! NSNO

Why do Evertonians find it necessary to spend so much time agonising over this total waster? The sooner Moyes puts his boot up his arse the better!

I love the idea that AvdM is struggling at Everton becuase of the baggage which comes from playing with a prestigious club like Everton - this is a player whose last two clubs were Ajax & Inter - 6 European Cups & countless league titles - so i don’t think playing thye level of prestige at Everton should be a problem
George Graham!!! - that is the worst suggestion I have seen on this site. He would have the entire squad as pissheads within a month. His idea of team bonding is sending the players down the pub on a tuesday lunch time for an all-day mid-week piss up. When Wenger joined Arsenal the typical lunch served at the canteen was burger & chips followed by apple pie & custard - I know Rioch was the last man before Wenger but he was only there for a year so I’m sure thats a legacy of the Graham era

They were still relativly successful weren’t they? I love a good sauce and i’m better than a lot of the non- sauce monsters on my team? i just don’t have enough ability? I reckon if you have the ability you are laughing. Maradona, Best, Shearer etc..

all souce hounds!

1. Peter Shilton
2. ’Chopper’ Harris
3. Stuart Pearce
4. Paul McGrath
5. Tony Adams
6. Socrates (also a chain-smoker)
7. Andy Van Der Meyde
8. Paul Gasgoigne (former blue)
9. Paul Merson
10. Diego Maradona
11. George Best

Would this team not win the premiership ??

All sauce hounds!! Build a team around Andy, thats what i say...

They were competing against eleven other piss heads every week - that was the culture of professional football.
Maybe we could get AvdM sent over some Amsterdams finest plants - that might keep him off the booze!

Maradona, Merse and Gazza all liked a sniff so maybe if AvdM got on the devils dandruff he might lose a bit of weight and get some pace back, could else help him stop getting pissed so quickly

I think we all missed the real reason for VDM not travelling to USA. He was waiting for his old mate Stevo to arrive. Now he’s here they’re all set for a big night on the tiles. If you’re out and about in Liverpool tonight they may bump into you quite literally.

Piennar looks like he prefers a bong to a beer - maybe that’ll help keep AvdM a bit more sedated
