Just how much will this cost?

Comments (10)

We have been told the stadium will cost £75M by Wyness. Tesco are building a £75M stadium for £50M. We have to contribute £10M for the interior. Now, what I don't understand, we are now being told the stadium is actually going to cost £150M. So who is now paying the extra cost? This is the problem, we are being told one thing one day, and the next something else. I'm baffled! Does anyone out there know what the fuck is going on?

They call it a £150M stadium as they’re including what the land would have cost if we had to pay for it. But Tesco are paying Knowsley £50M for the land and Knowsley are donating that £50M to us to build the stadium. Everton have to find the other £50M which they will be able to recoup from the sale of Goodison plus naming rights and a ’small’ amount of debt.

I know it’s shameless spin, but on the back of these figures, the club are maintaining they are getting a brand new £150M stadium almost for free. Which is true (to an extent).

Maybe Dick Turpin should line himself for one last fat wad bonus; negotiate the betrayal (sorry sale) of Goodison Park to become the new Walton Tesco Superstore on a 999 year lease then his parasitic offspring could suckle from the club like their esteemed ancestor.

Understand where your coming from Ryan. But,as I said one minute it’s £75m, and it seems as soon as the fans are not happy with this, because it’s not going to be a spectacular stadium for that cost,Wyness come out the next day denying he said £75m,and quotes £150m.It’s typical everton.

From my reading Brian it works like this..

Land from the council - "worth" £50mil

Barr construction, build a £75mil stadium for £50mil (and some club card points).

We chip in £10-15mil for seats etc.

Thus it has a total cost of around what, £65million but a theoretical total of £140million if everything had to be paid for in full.

I could be wrong as I am no accountant, but that is my reading of the figures over the last few days.

Looking at the pictures of the proposed stadium on the official web-site, I found it interesting that ’Everton’ and ’People’s Club’ was shown on the signs but no mention of Football Club. Have we sold even more than I was led to believe?

Please point me in the direction of this info that states £150m?

John Patrick McF---Good point. Personally, I think they have not put "Football Club" on there because when it’s built the sign will actually say "Laughing Stock". Either that or they have not put it on because it will mean there will be fewer letters to remove when they put up the new sign showing "Kirkby Tesco Wanderers"!

Totally off topic but sky sports says that we have signed Pienaar and will officially unveil monday!!

As for the stadium,if they say £75 mil then its probably there or there abouts but im not fussed cos I aint paying(other than season ticket and any shirts and stuff I buy) but as long as good football is thrown in then its money well spent!

Sorry Ryan but your sums just don’t add up. There’s going to be a paper transfer of £50 million pound between Tesco, Knowsley and the developer. This leaves a shortfall of £100 million. How is this going to be funded? Or is Wyness going to do his favourite sale and leaseback transaction just as he has done with Finch Farm whereby we own nothing more than a liability and even more debt? Maybe New Blue Properties are being lined up as part of the deal?
