The tell-tale footprint

Comments (4)

If you go to Google Earth and look at the footprint of the RheinEnergie Stadion on which the Tescodome is based and, from the same virtual altitude look at Goodison Park, you can see there is not much difference in the footprint. The RES is bigger, certainly, but could easily be built in a space composed of Goodison, Diana Street and the Gwladys Street school. That's a lot less property than the Kirkby complex proposes to demolish. So can we put a stop to this rubbish that Goodison can't be redeveloped?

The truth is the city doesn't want to offer the land and the club doesn't want it. The city wants the club to leave and club wants to leave the city. The dishonesty surrounding this move is almost as galling as the move itself. Most dishonest of all is the use of "The People's Club". The club couldn't care less about the People.

I wish they'd drop "The People's Club" from all of their marketing, I really do. It's hackneyed and becoming embarrassing. I'm going to assume — again, perhaps naively — that it's a placeholder in the artist's impressions for the stadium's name and — ugh... it pains me to type it — sponsor.

who’s gonna pay to redevelop Goodison? I think you’re missing the point of the reason we are looking into the Kirkby site. Plus in the mean-time where we gonna play. The years away would result in a huge loss of revenue. Sorry I think the move is possibly our only option. David

How about this for an off the wall idea? - Liverpool City Council planning condition on Liverpool’s new ground extension is that they re-brand and share Anfield with Everton for free, while Everton re-develops Goodison Park. We move back to where we started (I know it requires a sharp intake of breath) and the City Council, Everton and Private Industry take a fast run (without a loss of revenue)at re-developing the ground that most Everton Evertonians would prefer to remain at?

To what lengths are Liverpool City Council and KEIOC really prepared to go. Before I get castigated out of sight its just an idea!!!

Goodison may be the same size as John Holmes dick from the same height on Google Earth. So what?

It can’t be redeveloped because we can’t afford to.

Who is going to pay for kirkby? please do the sums, because a major chunk certainly ain’t going to be Tesco....... That major chunk could get Goodison to 50,000+. Now..... Kirkby or Walton? Kirkby ticks no boxes except the mythical freeby. What has this club come to, we’re running to kirkby cos we think its free? Jeez,Nil satis nisi snotty bum!
