Pronoun confusion

Comments (27)

There is an unfortunate tendency amongst posters to this website to confuse 'I' with 'We', especially concerning the Stadium issue. Statements like,'...the club know how WE feel', or 'the club know WE don't want to move'. Well, speak for yourselves by all means but please don't presume to speak for me!

'I' think the stadium looks pretty good; good enough (dare I suggest?) for it to have caused raptures of pleasure if it was going to be built somewhere which better pleased KEIOC or others who think as they do. Far better than one of those parabolic bowls that take supporters geometrically and rapidly away from the game with every row back from the front. There is provision for future expansion should we ever need it and overall (while I know we have only seen artists impressions so far) it looks impressive enough to me... a worthy successor to the once-great Goodison Park.

As for all those Evertonians who won't be Evertonians anymore if we do move to Kirkby, well... how shallow can you get? Do it my way or I won't come anymore! Go on, take your balls home. Good riddance, I regrettably feel induced to say. If you don't need Everton, then I'm sure Everton can do without you. As Brian Labone once famously said, 'one Evertonian is worth 20 Liverpudlians', so perhaps we don't need that many after all!

If 'we' move to Kirkby, 'I' will be there supporting the Blues, 4½ miles from Goodison and ¼ mile outside of the City boundary for God's sake! The City which, by the way, did sweet FA to keep us there. The Club was outside of the City when it was born and now it is leaving it's temporary home to move out of the City again. Big deal... what's the problem?

I have to agree with that.

A few years ago it was the board’s fault that we could deliver a stadium that would have secured our long term future competitiveness. If we fail this time it will be the fault of the fans that vote against.

We must make the right decision. There is no alternative, the club cannot afford it. Liverpool City Council have not tried to help us in any meaningful way. So the stadium is 400 yards outside the City Council boundary? These boundaries are arbitrary lines drawn up in Whitehall. We cannot afford to miss this opportunity because the line is in slightly the wrong place.

Eileen I think I know why you are all for moving to Kirkby. Its piss easy to get to from Runcorn.Nice smooth motorway all the way.Good for you but no so good for others.

Secondly the ground if thats what it will look like is a crappy Millwall type effort and just doesnt push any buttons here.<

Thirdly the difference in miles from Goodison is not the point. We are surrendering our turf to Liverpool and its just not on.

The/Kopites I know are loving it and they cant wait to rub it in when we do leave.<>If you dont think are fan base will slowly errode because fathers followed by thier kids cant be arsed enduring 6 hours of traffic jams every other week then you are dreaming. The kids will get fed up
with the stick they have to take
for not supporting thier local team . The heart and soul of the club will be gone.

By the way what ever happened to Huyton Rugby League club Eileen.>As far as I know it upped sticks and moved to Runcorn didnt it? Then slowly but surely faded away because the fans give up on it.See where I am going?

I totally agree...Three years after its built we’ll all be there saying how great it is and what was all the fuss about..But we need it most of all to compete for investment, how many more summers like this can we afford?

I was just wondering. If everything goes through and we do move to Kirkby.Does that mean there will be no major signings until it,s built in 2010.Because,if we are fucking skint now(and we havn’t even started building the thing yet)where is the transfer money going to come from in the next few years?

Tony, that is ridiculous. 6 hours of traffic jams to get 4 miles? When you make stupid comments like that your whole arguement is just lost. We are not surrendering the city, the council has abandoned us. And to say that the pictures of the proposed ground is a "a crappy Millwall type effort" is just talking out of your ass. Milwall’s stadium has a capacity of 20,000, our proposed stadium has a seating capacity of 50-55,000. Yeah, sounds like Milwall to me.

Tony , the kids are more likely to get fed up walking right past a massive New Anfield to a crappy delapidated Goodison...Thats when we’ll really have Kopites rubbing our noses in it. As for travelling from the city, have a look right now at the way the infrastructure is being upgraded on the East Lancs. Kirkby is getting massive investment already whether we’re there or not. Supperters wont stop going cos we move 4 miles to a far better stadium.

David,I can see where Marshy is coming from.I’m originally from Huyton,so I know Kirkby quite well. It’s not the biggest of towns, and I have wondered how it was going to cope with the influx of traffic that is going to build up on matchday. Also, you have to remember as well as fans at the stadium, you are also going to get the shoppers visiting the business park we will be situated on.

David if you have tried getting out of The Greybok or the JJB after a game you will understand what I am saying. This site will be 10 times worse. Unless hard up Everton build some new motorway slip roads along with new dual carriage ways in and out of Kirkby town center then dont you make your self sound stupid.

By the way when was the last time
mate.I did it last week and it was murder then never mind with your 50,000 ha ha ha fans trying to get in and out.

The fact that Kirkby is getting such massive investment could only help us find an investor when we move there. What rich business man with any sort of intelligence would want to invest in Everton now with our rivals putting up a shiny, massive, new stadium just down the road from our old, out of date stadium? This way we will be in a location that is being completely redeveloped and should be very attractive to any sensible investor. Not only that, but imagine the press that Merseyside would gain from having two major football clubs going to new stadiums in the same season!!! Instead of letting Liverpool get all the attention, Everton would be involved in the discussion right there with them.

No I don’t see where you are going Tony. If we move to Kirkby I will still have to pick my mates up in Halewood or leave my car there if it’s their turn to drive!. The fact that Kirkby is on the M57 is no particular advantage to me personally. Your paragraph about the Kopites is intriguing and revealing though. That’s what it is all about isn’t it? The perception that we are ’losing’ to the Kopites in some imaginary battle. Losing to the Kopites (as some like you see it) is more important than the future of Everton?. Well it is not for me. If we end up in a situation where we are better able to compete with the shite it will wipe the smirks off their faces for good. Personally I don’t give a shit what Kopites think, I am an Evertonian and that is all that matters to me. As for Huyton Rugby Club,I couldn’t give a sausage, they played with the wrong ball and they were dead in the water anyway!

The more i read of Tony Marsh the more i think he is a closet red... where is the objectivity evertonians in the main have? As for the stadium the artists impressions seem good. a split level to ease congestion to and from the ground. Its true the infastructure is being improved... I am still a little worried by the lack of any real numbers costings, and more detailed plans... At the moment it seems like the board want us to vote without any real knowledge... How many of you would buy a house without knowing what comes with it? the material the walls are made of? The interiors and fixtures and fittings. Dunno, but i still think we need more information before submitting our votes on the stadium.

Karl i’ve been walking past a good stadium i.e. Anfield since i was a kid going the match. it’s never put me off.

The fact is Tony is right we are surrendering our turf to liverpool. Like it or not people will attend the match but that special attatchment we have will no longer exist. We’re become a bolton type club.

Eileen when most people your we instead of I. I do believe they are talking on my behalf too. Maybe the others who are opposed to the ground move.

Tony, part of the redeveloping of Kirkby town center will include improving the transportation situation. That is all part of building the infrastructure when building up an area. If they can build a bunch of building, they can expand and add roadways.

Matt,if there is one thing I hate more than anything,it’s someone calling a fellow blue a closet red.FFS, Marshy is entitled to his opinions just as much as you.Just because he doesn’t agree with you.So what?Grow up lad.

David why fuck about with Kirkby then when theres plenty of land near Skemersdale or how about Rainford loads there to.How far away would we have to go before we lost our identity. Are the MK Dons still Wimbledon?

17   Posted 20/07/2007 at 20:46:15

Tony, again you stray from the facts and start naming random things that fit into your arguement. We are not talking about moving to any of those places, we are talking about moving 4 miles from our current stadium and just a mile or two outside the boundary that shows up on the map. Stick with the facts Tony or just acknowledge that you don’t have an answer.

18   Posted 20/07/2007 at 20:51:11

Ok David it will be wonderfull much better than Goodison Park
and piss easy to get to and from.
BK has only the best intentions for the club so lets go along with Mr Honesty and his mate Keith sell out Wyness.

Lets not worry about getting stranded with a white Elephant ground that the fans have deserted. After all opinions like mine dont count do they?

Again Tony, not what I said at all so stop putting these fucking words in my mouth. I was calm but the way you go about a discussion is really degrading and fucking childish. The fans will not abandon the team for moving 4 miles, and if they did then they weren’t really fans in the first fucking place!!!!!!

The point is that Kirkby is an opportunity for us to get a top class stadium-cos thats what it will be(It aint Bolton)- for comparatively very little outlay ..Skelmersdale, Speke et al doesnt have the investors willing to go hand in hand with Everton, even if we get the land for free. Also, we would have to work with the Liverpool City Council ditherers. Look at the mess theyre making of the 2008 C/culture budget/tram systems. Without wanting to get too political, Knowsley have a council that is far more visionary.

Enough blue in the face. Calling him a kopite is stupid and pointless. He is not one, nor should anyone on here be told they are. He winds people up intentionally when others are trying to have a reasonable discussion, but that in no way warrants calling him a kopite.

Fans will stop supporting us!! and the youngsters will all grow up to be RS, all because we surrendered the city to them. Pure rubbish!!
Its the success of the team on the pitch that influences fan base
Why are there so many Man utd fans all over the bloody country?
Good football, trophies and big footballing personalities thats what increases fan base

Thank you Dan. I remember starting to see Leeds jerseys a few years back, but don’t see many of them around anymore. I don’t think that is due to a new stadium, I believe it is from them having a crap side that has just been relegated again and been in administration.

Mr Barks I can assure you that my opinions are not here to wind people up.Why do you and others of your ilk find it so hard to except that there are fans out here who dont like what BK is doing to the club.Who dont want to move to Kirkby and who happen to think this city means something.

I agree with you Tony Marsh. I wonder how many pro Kirkby deal, live, work, drink, shop in the city. I come to see my family, shop and drink in the city Three or four times a week.and walk into the banter from the shite.statements like out of towners, woolyback team, get back to Kirkby. Yes your right we will lose our identity. All my family live in Kirkby for over fifty years and would be easy for me. We belong to the city and there we should stay.

Okay, that’s quite enough of this silliness. I’m deleteing "blue in the face"’s messages, and other related ones. He is abusing this thread, which I think has run its course and is now going off-course.
