Chants

Comments (4)

It's the small things that do your head in. No matter how gratifying it will be, when we have had a good result, to chant, tongue planted firmly in cheek: "small club from Kirkby, we're just a small club from Kirkby"... It will be 10 times worse when we lose, as will happen on the odd occaision, a big game (or heaven forbid a derby game!!) to hear the reverse chant: "Small club from Kirkby, you're just a small club from Kirkby",

That for me is enough to sour the whole deal. Silly? Maybe... but the small things often rankle the most, straws and camels backs etc. Maybe the whole money-fuelled extravaganza will go tits-up and us, with our prudent wage-cap policy, will come up smelling of roses.

By the way, the Big Four is about to become, if Platini has his way, the Big Three, if his plan to take the 4th place away from the countries that have them, with the 4th place going to the (FA) Cup winners.

We are Everton no matter where we play.

So the reason you would say no to a multi million pound windfall for your club is to stop the shite singing some infantile chant once every blue moon. How old are you Derek? Whatever the answer to that question you need to GROW UP FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!

In 3 or 4 years when we are both in new stadiums and they are £600m in debt and we are £10m in debt and they are paying £1200 for a season ticket while we are paying £600 and we have taken their champions league place again lets see then who the small club is. In the meantime we, Everton will still be the best supported club in Liverpool despite the fact that we play in Kirkby and if I was a Liverpool fan I would be more embarrassed and worried about that.

Barry:

We’re not worthy! Big-up for having vision. All this talk about City boundaries is nonsence.

Ask anybody south of Knutsford where Kirkby is and you’ll get the same response. Also grant Sir TL with a bit of nouce for God sake; It’s his beloved Blues as well. Do you think he wants us playing in a prefab ’Tescodome’ stadium - Of course he doesn’t. He brings buying power and networks to the table that the likes of the RS have to pay top dolar for.

Barry nailed the point!

It’s a head Vs heart thing, I know what my heart says, but it’s my head I’m worried about, that and where TL’s head and heart is. I would bet that in business the head always rules the heart(as it should?)and I just can’t get it round the fact that a) there’s no such thing as a free lunch and b)That no matter what is said by Whyness et al to sex up the deal we will be paying it all back to the tune of about 50mill(plus what ever we have bunged in the pot this season...20mill??) over many years.

OK, so we will have to move one day, but the purported revenue streams so beloved of those in favour will only come about if the place is full of punters watching a team playing other top teams in the top comps. We all want a return to the Bayern nights, but as I seem to remember it was the TEAM that won the game (and got into the position to be able to do so) not the bricks wood and mortar of Goodison. So how does everybody (in favour) think that a new edifice of concrete and steel...where ever, will AUTOMATICALLY bring mega bucks and more importantly, goals and wins.

It’s all about opinions, you’ve got yours and I’ve got mine, but more importantly The Club have theirs and in real terms, consolation vote not withstanding, we will get what we are given. I’m busy saving even as we speak for the trip to the last game at Goodison and will no doubt turn up at Kirkby once just to say I’ve been there and it’s shite or OK (delete where applicable).

As I said, we all want a return to the Bayern Nights and I like a laugh as much as the next man, I just hope we don’t end up with a footballing version of Phoenix Nights...PS I don’t give a shit about boundaries on a map.
