Panic Attack

Comments (6)

It would appear from your most recent poll and the placating words regarding transfer activity from Wyness that I am not alone in becoming increasingly concerned by this summer's lack of new faces being drafted in to bolster our threadbare squad.

Whilst the team's around us have been busy strengthening it would appear that the extended US tour and issues regarding the Kirkby project have taken sight off Everton's lack of activity in the market.

Even the fictitious Riquelme link in the cold light of day following the completion of the Copa America seems a distant memory in a forgettable pre-season. The news that Leighton Baines and Christian Wilhmeson who have been considered as possible targets are in negotiations with other suitors would further suggest that either Moyes has his un-named targets, is completely cash strapped and can only bring in loans and free transfers or he is leaving business very, very late.

I will be glad when the squad returns from the US and hopefully Moyes will provide reassurances that potential signings are in the pipeline and we can look forward to the new season with anticipation as opposed to the trepidation that I am currently feeling.

Have faith

Billy, Bully and Moyesy have all said that the squad will be added to. As has Ian Ross, when he responded to my email questioning the lack of transfer activity from Everton’s point of view.

So something must be going on behind the scenes that us plebs don’t know about.

Just read on the BBC website that West Ham have agreed to sign Freddie Ljungberg. The fee could rise to £3m.
Bloke’s only turned thirty, is an attacking creative player and is known to have been available since the season ended. It annoy’s me that players like this slip away without us having shown any interest at all. I know his wages could be high, and he might not have fancied a move out of London, but he’s a quality player and at least see what interest he might have had.

Kieran, I would imagine that wages would be a major stumbling block in any move we might have made for Ljungberg. Also, he is quite injury prone.

Ljungberg made it clear from the start he wanted to stay in London, hence the reason why we showed no interest, plus his massive wages that West Ham have stupidly paid.

Ljungberg is only out to pick up a big wage and no longer is the player we saw 2-3 years ago. We are in desperate need of a front man know JV is out. Beattie and Faddy are no use to us and the best bet would have been nugent. He only cost £4.5m not the 6 that was going around, for a player to openly admit he is a fan and is desperate to play for the club, then we should have found the money at least he can score goals.

What I am worried about is that if we get some more faces in on loan,I don’t care what anyone says, that will prove we are skint. Now,my worry.we already have a debt.If and when we move to Kirkby we are going to add more debt on top of our existing debt,I think £25m has been touted. So,if we can’t afford anyone now with our debts, how will we ba able to afford players if we move to Kirkby with extra debts? Will we be like a new business,Were it takes a few years to get established? If so,could we have to endure a few years of an average player here and there, and a few loans? We can’t gaurantee that attendances will go up,apart from putting ticket prices and season tickets up,we are not going to get much more than we do now from the fans. Can we gaurantee that all the corporate box’s will all be taken?Well no.So I am just concerned where the money is going to come from for the signings we need to take us forward.Wyness makes it sound all to easy when he says "we will have an extra £10m a year for transfers"I just can’t see where it is going to come from.
