Apologies for being pedantic but when you say OUR new state-of-the-art training academy, can I point out that it is not OUR'S. We sold it, before it was built. It is leased back. As for your question ? sometime soon, I believe!

Colm, are you guys from the 19th century. Businesses lease their offices, etc nowadays. That’s just the way it is. When you go into a bank, they are leasing that space. When you go to an auto dealer, they are leasing that space. It doesn’t mean it is not theirs, they are leasing it and can do as they please.

Colm, didn’t you pay attention when the details (well, details...) of the Kirkby-deal where pronounced? Leasing something is the same as owning it! ;)

Oh and please do not take this comment serious in any way - just bored at work!

Is the new training ground named after Clifford Finch and will the changing rooms be sponsoredby D.J. Spuddles?

David Barks I used to work for a conniving car dealership one of largest in the country and they not only own their sites but their stock, all paid for in filthy cash, maybe not always the case but can be either, leasing costs I believe are something to do with creative accountancy

Finch Farm is about a month late as I predicted about 8 weeks ago in these columns and that’s why Moyes has had to go to Scotland, and Italy pre-season. I think reading between lines even the US trip wasnt what it was meant to be as Moyes wanted to play another friendly but dumped by Club America so they could play other teams - hence last minute Real Salt Lake CIty on a 2 day stop-over with only 15 fit players.

Seriously, Gavin. Leasing is a very common thing in the world. It has something to do with trying to avoid high costs at the short term, in most cases. Not with creative accounting. You’re well of target.

Erik, I didn’t fall off the last boat and have accounting friends, I’ve also worked for banks whose cash wealth has been beyond the dreams of most corporations who have significant property as part of their capital wealth who do both, believe me there is an accounting reasoning behind renting property

Moving into Finch Farm may be delayed due to roadworks that have closed off the access road to the site, I went past it two weeks ago trying to show my lad and the sign said for 8 weeks I think so it should be clear soon.

The company I work for lease the majority of their properties, the one I’m in is on a ten year lease, but they aren’t owned by us we pay rent.

"While the first-team squad have been on their travels, the club are utilising the time to make the transfer from Bellefield to their new Finch Farm training complex in Halewood on the outskirts of Liverpool."
