Just Say No

I was born in Everton and have been a Blue since I can remember. I now live in Knowsley and believe me, if Everton move to Kirkby it will be the end of the club as a main player in the Premiership. It might not happen overnight but happen it will.

Almost every Evertonian that I speak to is against the move for various reasons but mainly because they feel that a move out of the city — our home almost since inception will be wrong.

Mr Kenwright, you allude to having been a lifelong Evertonian. If this IS true then how can you even contemplate moving away from the area where all our history and heart evolves?

The other reason why, is that fans are wary and indeed, totally MISTRUST you, Mr Kenwright and you Mr Wyness; in fact, I believe from my observations that you both are held with great contempt by the majority of Evertonians.

Tony Marsh is very vitriolic in his piece regarding the move and as always says it as it is but some questions need to be asked.

  • How is it that EFC cannot get anyone to even talk about investing in the club?
  • With the city booming and the Premiership attracting billions of pounds of revenue and investment, why can EFC not get anyone to talk about investment?
  • Why can EFC not get the grants and support that other projects within the city get?

I believe the reason lies within the club, the Chairman and CEO do not want investment YET, they see the move to Kirkby as their lottery win and as with every lottery win there are many many losers. Don?t be fooled by Billy Liar and Greedy Wyness

VOTE NO!

If this is how you feel why don’t you forward it on to Messrs Kenwright and Wyness, see if they reply to you.

You never know they may even answer your questions that need answered.

I’m sure you are over reacting that as soon as we move outside the city boundary then that is the end of us as a premier team, because it won’t be. However I do think them questions do need answering by the club.

Steve I agree with you and if you email the club they might reply but they didn’t to me .Kirkby is the beginning of the end I don’t believe the amount of people still trusting Kenwright

If we could convince Tesco to move to the Scotland Rd. site owned by Bestway and LCC could fund us in the same ways as Knowsley then I would vote a resounding yes to the scheme.

Steve,we shall see how determined Kenwright and Co are to keep us in the city now.Bestway have come up with an alternative(and before all you pro-Kirkby fans come out,I know it is only talk at the moment, and we don’t if it is a better deal than we are being offered by Tesco. And no,I’m not looking at them as our knight in shining armour)As I said if Kenwright would like to keep us in the city,he has to get round the table with Bestway and the council to see if we can do it now.If he refuses and says they are sticking with Tesco, well,we will know he’s the bullshitter we allways thought he was.

This Bestway scheme is a complete non-starter. It has to be the most unsuitable location ever for a football stadium and retail development.

Can anyone seriously imagine getting 40-odd thousand people in and (particularly) out of there on a Saturday afternoon ? It would be complete and utter chaos.

A red herring if ever there was one.

Out of The 3 sites earmarked by LCC only 1 has merit that’s the Speke option.
Both Long Lane & Bestways are non starters they’re too ground locked and on roads that have major congestion at the best of times,Long Lane especially is in a busy industrial/residential area and would have a bloody prison next door to it.
Here’s a thought why hasn’t Cllr Bradleyn offered us the approx 3,000 acre site across the road from the showcase ?
But all this ground move talk covers up the fact that the biggest bullshitter of all MOYES can’t be arsed to get people in,and actually try and get the team to play some decent football.
I’ll listen to reasonable alternatives,I just don’t think Long Lane or Scotty rd are.

If a consortium or individual wanted to buy into EFC we would have heard about by now because its in their interests to swell opinion. BK & KW, whether they wanted it or not would not be able to keep it quiet.Other than NEC & Fortress sport it just hasnt materialised.
Evertonians have to realise, its just not going to happen with an ageing stadium draining finances every year and being in the shadow of LFC. These people arent stupid. Unfortunately, a rich guy or consortium overseas with the wealth we require does not see Everton when they look at investing in a premier club in this city, whether Bk wants it or not.

Got to agree with Tom having seen the aerial shot, just how do you get in and out of the place with the fact its the tunnel road and unlikely to be changed or shut.

Tom and Gavin, that is exactly what I thought when looking at that shot. At first I must say I got very excited that the Council was actually presenting some details as to what they will do to keep Everton in Liverpool. But there is no way a stadium could fit there with parking, etc. It is surrounded by busy motorways and I can’t see where any pubs would fit for the pre-match rituals. Bluekipper has an interesting interview with Wyness up by the way, with statistics of attendance for teams who have switched stadiums. A lot of questions are answered, including that the vote is binding.

Steve Sweeney, you say you dont trust BK and KW basically because they dont believe what you believe over some conspiracy theory over moving to Kirkby.
But they are giving you and other Evertonians a vote to decide the outcome and have already stated they will abide by it.
If, as looks likely the Kirkby move will be rejected it will be the fans decision and vice versa.

Just done a quick Google Earth overlay of GP footprint over the loop and it barely fits, anyone know what’ll ever happen to the open space either side of Heyworth Street beyond people taking their dogs for a crap? It’s a lot bigger and the side the flats used to be on have been empty for years. Not saying ideal but what else is it used for?

Karl Jones,

"If, as looks likely the Kirkby move will be rejected.. ?"

Historically, the evidence suggest otherwise. Two previous votes, two overwhelming mandates to move.

The vast majority - despite what the cynics will have you believe - are NOT stupid. People will look at all the facts and make their decision.

We’re going to Kirkby. Trust me.

Looking on Google Earth you can see that the Loop is a bigger site than the current Goodison one - perhaps about one and a half times the size. Car parking could be an issue, but there appears to be more land in the vicinity that is not doing a lot so maybe that could be utilised with some imaginitive links above the dual cariageways perhaps.

This is an option that could and should be explored. Presumably Bestway would not have come out and spoken if they hadn’t considered transport links and logistics.

So Mr Morris if people don’t agree with you there stupid, you arrogant prick ,I think we will move but only because of Kenwrights skulduggery to believe a proven liar now that’s stupid but unlike you I respect other peoples opinions(except yours on this occasion)and would never insult a fellow blue

Tom, Three polls-One on this site, one on Blue Kipper, and one announced today in the Daily post each with 2-3000 opinions all come out pretty close. I think its also been stated a 75% at least majority is needed to move.
Exit/opinion polls just prior to General elections are pretty conclusive of the outcome. This time its different-A vast proportion of Blues just cant come to terms with moving out of Liverpool and wont be swayed no matter what.

The loop is big enough. Carparking will not be an issue with the biggest collection of carparks in the city within walking distance, and with comprehensive public transport from every part of the city and country literally around the corner.

In answer to your responses

I have written to the club- Still waiting for a reply.

To Karl I would say it would seem any potential bidder is put off by BK & KW.
Can you really believe that there would be absolutely no interest at all in the club if the present board were genuinely looking to sell. After all wasn?t Wyness spouting off less than 12 months ago how the club?s finances were amongst the best in European Football?
Also would you trust BK with his track record?
Where is he now, why isn?t he using his media connections to urge the fans to vote yes, because he knows the whole idea is flawed and he will be castigated in years to come for trying to push this through.
I have never mentioned a conspiracy or any other theory it is just my opinion based on over 40 years of supporting Everton and despairing at the way the club has been mismanaged.
Mr Morris I may be misinformed and misguided but I would not class myself as stupid for voting against the move to Kirkby.
