What has the city of Liverpool done for us?

Comments (7)

One thing I don't get about the parochial thinking of 'scousers', of which I am one (born in Mill Rd Hospital in Everton, brought up in Kirkdale)... but what has Everton being in Liverpool actually brought us? All major institutions/media in this country only focus on Liverpool FC when mentioning the city; the local rag (Echo) ignores us (and Tranmere) in favour of LFC.

The most infamous piece of ignorance from the Echo was its 'apology' on behalf of the city of Liverpool to Juventus, thus linking us forever in their minds to the tragedy, the lack of support from our own council (well, the planning committee has been red-biased for years). Look at most pubs/clubs in the city to see whose football team is on TV, it sticks in the throat but it's red! Our support in the city is at its nadir, we cannot attract more as the reds are now too far ahead of us in kids' minds.

We are tainted by being in the city with all the harm done to English football by the kopite twats. We aren't wanted in our own city and quite frankly most of you would leave the city if you had the chance! It really is time to up sticks and start afresh away from the stench of Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Echo & Liverpool Football Club, it's 1892 again and time to move!

hi,i have read the letter with concern,i think for the fans of liverpool fc and everton fc to enjoy the game, everton should not shift from the good city of liverpool.imangine the derbys, the atmosphere at anfield and godson park when the two merslysiders are playing will not be there if atall everton shifts to another home.Let everton improve at the level the reds play and things will change to their side.otherwise there is no need to spend on another home.let everton us that money to buy good players.

Tommy,Its got nothing to do with the council or the echo mate.If we leave the city and go to Kirkby we will be fucked. Why is every one jumping on the councils back? Its BK who is supposed to be running the show but he is nowhwere to be seen.Maybe the LCC
are sick of Kenwrights bullshit. After all they bent over backwards to accomodate him at Kings Dock and the twat lied and wriggled his way out of it for the sake of £30 million.Would you be arsed dealing with the prick again if you were the LCC?

Tommy,
You are the perfect example of why some RS tar us with the being ’bitter & twisted’ brush. Liverpool does not solely contain the city council, the Echo and LFC.
Liverpool is the city of thousands upon thousands of passionate Evertonians. I for one do not take the actions of the Liverpool Echo or Liverpool City council to heart. They have their job to do, I have mine. However they go about their jobs is up to them. It is not a fair reflection of 50% of the city though. It also will not sway me from trying my damned best to keep Everton from surrendering the rights to support Everton within my city boundary.

Well said.

The City of Liverpool argument just doesn’t cut it for me i’m afraid.

Tommy,
Don’t let them grind you down like that. Born in Toxteth I’m a passionate Liverpool supporter that now lives in the Highlands of Scotland and I can only sympathise with you and what is going on at the moment.
Remember that Everton has a long and distinguished history and fans that are every bit as passionate within mixed support families in Liverpool. No matter what the outcome you’ll NEVER be able to take that away from Everton and their fans, it’s ONLY money that’s ruling here and the fans dont usually count when THEY’RE talking about that and how to make more!!!!
