What a Frustrating Summer

Comments (7)

First we had the Carlos Tevez never-ending saga, (I know that's got nothing to do with us but is it driving everyone else bonker's?). Then we have the ongoing debates regarding our ground move, added to our total lack of imagination/activity in the transfer market, plus the lack of sunshine to make us forget about the football season. Please, Please, old dithering one, give us a signing or two that will make us all proud and look forward to our season in Europe. What's happened to Fernandes? he would do for a start.

Just one other point that concerns me, why have we had 3 trips (Scotland, Italy and now USA) without any real competetive tests? — Lee Carsley for one say's he would prefer to do his pre-season training at home base — not surprised considering the amount of travelling! Not an issue I would like to delve too deep in to, but WHAT ABOUT OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT?!?

Couldn’t give a dam about carbon footprints. Mine or anyone else’s.
I’m not sure why the population has been dealt a guilt trip by the powers that be on their ’damage’ to the environment, especially as the majority or carbon stuff comes from the way businesses conducts itself. Conspiracy theorists should look to this I say.
Also anyone heared of fluctuations in the Earth’s weather patterns?

I couldn’t agree more re: the amount of travelling involved pre-season....surely it would be more cost-effective and less hassle and toil on the players to pick one good base for training and stay there for at least a couple of weeks....I have never understood why they zip all over the place in such a short period of time.

There are many reasons to keep the travelling pre-season. Firstly it boosts morale, it varies the playing conditions and helps increase fitness. Playing at altitude will help with breathing etc. Then there’s the variation in competitors. If you play the same teams in the same environments it breeds complacency and boredom.

...on the signings side of things - we Officially have Pinaar now!

It’s all to do with Karaoke and bonding. They’d be better off taking the ferry to Dublin for a Guinness and a spot of origami. That would solve the guilt over carbon footprints and Carsley might feel more at home.

Basically Finch Farm is a month late and all the gear is being transferred from Bellefield to Finch , and effectively we had to go on the road to train ie Scotland and Italy . USA was always planned but I suspect Moyes would have liked another friendly out there and couldnt arrange one !!!

The altitude training makes perfect sense but surely a combined trip as they are doing this week (Salt Lake & LA) would have sufficed...just expand the time there......why Scotland and Austria too??? We have our own training ground and once back at Goodison there’s plenty of teams to play for variety. All the flying around can’t be good for the players, surely?
It’s hardly that big a deal I know.....but it does make a change from reading about the Kirkby issue and the lack of signings!

I can’t believe the irresponsible attitude of some fellow Evertonians towards the environment. With all this debate about a ground move and the future generations of Evertonians, perhaps we should all be doing a bit more to help save the environment to safeguard their future.

I am also disappointed that Wyness has not released any details of how green the new stadium will be. Peace.
