Pienaar

Comments (33)

Pienaar is in according to the Official Site. All I?ve ever seen of him is one of those YouTube collage things. But from that he looks like a reasonably skillful attacking midfielder. At least reasonable cover for Timmy C? Anyone know any more about him?

Where is Paul Vogel gone? Is he brown bread now or what?

Yep, looks like he’s gonna slot into the right side of midfield when he plays. Hope he can show the form that made him so promising at Ajax. I think Leon will have his work cut out to keep that right MF role.

Great bit of business from Moyes... a lot of our best players have come from long loan spells with the option to turn into perminent deals. Yobo, Arteta, Howard and hopefully now Pienaar (shame they wanted so much for Fernandes, otherwise he’d be in there too).

Cheers, Dunc

This should help the goal scoring ability of the squad. AJ and Victor up front, with Arteta on one wing, Cahill, Carsley or Jagielka, and Pienaar on the other wing. I am thrilled with a loan move also, if he proves good then we take him on permanently. I do hope we get Vogel in for the holding midfield role though. This would probably put our second string midfield as AVM, Osman, Carsley, Anderson da Silva, Jagielka, Neville. A 4-5-1 line up could actually work as well. We do need another striker to cover for Vaughan while he’s out though. Sell Beattie and put those funds to use.

Does anybody have any more info about Paul Vogel or his brother Johan?!

He’s worn the number ’10’ elsewhere but he’s been given the ’20’ for us next season. Hmmmm, who’s gonna take that number?

Andy in relation to Johann Vogel the deal is stalling as apparently Vogel and his club are arguing over money allegedly owed to him

Everton thought that Vogel was free but Betis want cash to cover what they owe to the player! Thats what you get for annoucing transfers before they are done and dusted!

By the way, have we a number 34?

I would assume that once everything is sorted out between Vogel & Betis that the move will be a formailty.
It sounds like Betis owe the lad money and are refusing to pay it or are trying to get us to pay it....chancers!!

Vogel still has a year left on his contract so Betis dont have to give him to us,I think this maybe why there trying to get us to cover Vogels money (probably one of those ’loyalty’ payments)! He probably really needs it too,I bet hes living hand to mouth without it!! :)

Something similar happened with Barton and Torres if I’m not mistaken?

So people think that the Vogel deal is still gonna happen?
Will Moyes still get him in if we have to pay out £1m as i’ve seen quoted?
Peter Laing
15   Posted 24/07/2007 at 16:38:19

Everton have £6m apparently to spend so it looks likely that Alan Smith will be that long awaited addition, I know not exactly Riquelme but we are only Everton for fuck sake

I would be very surprised! 1m is a lot in today’s market! If that hearts goalkeeper is worth 9m I fins it diffiuclt to believe Paul vogel is worth 0ne ninth of this value?

If we have 6 million would it not be better spent on Baines than Smith ? I mean baines is young and and Ingerland U21, smith is decent but he doesnt deserve the sacred number 34...
Jake

Also regarding the striker issue, I saw Van Der Meyde play centre forward for Ajax in 1997 against Guingamp and he scored 2 goals. Rather than spend a rash 6m on a short term replacement for Vaughan should we not give andy a shot at the hotseat ??

Yeah, I reckon Ledley Baines is worth more than Smith?

But two thirds the value of the current Hearts onion bag blocker.. me thinks not!?

What about this Norwegian international striker that we’re being linked with on Skysports.

I just see there that we have been linked with Freddy Adu. I think thats very exciting. I hear he’s the african american Wayne Rooney..

i know a paul baines.....

31   Posted 24/07/2007 at 19:10:32

what about paul pots, good set of lungs on the lad, plus looks in better shape then paul beattie, prob more polific aswell

on a serious note though..if moyes didnt want to risk nuge forget about adu...baines not with the mighty money bags sunderland on the case and looks like vogel missed his chance, smith would want to much in wages. bratten possibility untill one of the other 60 teams in the english league system get a whiff of him. hate to be pessimistic but lets hope we got some good kids coming through, that shiny new stadium aint gonna pay for itself you know ; )

The name paul is synonnomous with all things great!!! I think everton are dead certs for relegation this year, they dont deserve the name paul to be linked with them in any way shape or form!! Paul fulham will get europe ahead of them and become paul fantastic!!!

Methinks we should get Pienaar immediately drug tested and arrange for him not to ever bunk with Andy VDM if this comment is anything to go by:

"Everton is known for playing nice football and that was a big thing for me"

'Nice football'? perhaps thats South African for shite?

Ach just kidding, he's a great signing, look forward to seeing him in the blue. I do love how Moyes appears to just pluck these signings out of nowhere.

Anyone got any inclination as to who is filling our number 10 yet? Alan Smith appears to be Boro bound now.
