As a now 'out of towner' (and it doesn't get any further out of town than where I am), I don't have a vote, although as an expatI can still vote in Gordy's up coming snap election if it happens, which I think on reflection is stupid, but is, as of now, legal, so maybe the vote criteria is not so stupid.
We don't yet know the Question, but a lot of us anti's think we already know the answer, or do we? Is this Bestbuy Plan B too little to late or the push we need to get some action, anyway the point of this Ronnie Corbettesque ramble is this....
The other morning getting up to go to work at 0550 I had the TV on as background, as you do, waiting for my daily dose of English Sky News at the top of the hour, and had on the BBC WORLD The prog was a touchy-feely "arn't we clever feel good" piece featuring 4 big wheels in the business sector. The guy who caught my ear was the chief architect of the new Wembley, blatting on about how people shouldn't focus on the cost of the place but remember that the cost of the people playing in the Cup final was nearly as much as the cost of the concrete and steel, (I said it was touchy-feely feel good) and that people are the real big deal etc etc.
He then went on to say... 'every time I go to a town the local council ask me, where should we put a stadium, so I said stick a pin in the centre of town and try to get the stadium as near to it as you can'. My first thought was that's one in the eye for you BK, Kings Dock would have been OK. My 2nd thought was, wait on, they are putting it as close to the town centre as they can... It's just the WRONG town centre! My 3rd thought (yes I know 3 in a lifetime) is that I hope this Bestbuy things gets enough legs to give Tesco a run for it's money!!
