Riquelme?s ?Special Character?

Comments (14)

Don't really know if this is still an on going topic or whether it?s fizzled out a bit, but this appeared in ?AS? today (in Spanish).

No mention of us or anyone else here, but it's interesting that Atletico say Riquelme isn?t a priority and want to sure up the wings and see how the team goes before signing any deal they might have. It also says that the manager Aguirre isn't very keen on having him as it would mean having too many non EU players on the books and both he and the rest of the players are worried about Riquelme?s ?Special Character? and the ?Riquelme Effect? disrupting things.

There is not a hope than Fran veron Riquelme will be joining us!

Baines and Smith will be it ! And i for one would be happy with that!?

Apparantly Riquelme’s move is depandant on whether Heinze’s move to the red shite goes ahead. They are said to be roomates for all of their internationals and best buds.

Also Riquelme has in the past had the number 10 jersey be written into his contract.
Perhaps this is why moyes has kept it free this season.

All of this is also depandants on whether Billy boy gets the chequebook out with regard to wages.

I heard he’s good chums with Micky Arteta too! COYB!

I know this is irrelevant but aparantly Arteta, Alonso, Heinze and Riquelme shared a meal together when Henize got engaged?

Personally Id prefer to sign Baines. Hes a much better left back than Riquelme.
Riquelme is to attack minded, and from what ive seen of him he’s always out of position.

About the number 10 issue, Jagielka had the option to take the it (or the numbers 3 and 16) but chose 16.

If you believe the websites we have tabled a 4.5m bid for Baines who has just turned down a move to Sunderland.

Jay your clearly just making that up. If that is the case than why hasnt pienarr taken it.
He wasnt wearing 10 in that recent indoor game.

Also, why go all the way over to the bleedin states to play an indoor game of ball ’behind closed doors’. Surely the purpose of pre season tours is to actually promote the club as well as train. Look at man u lapping up the extra funds in Asia from new found supporters.
Why didnt we go to Thailand where our sponsers originate from? Theres loads of revenue potential there and its a country that is getting richer by the day. Just shows the idiocy of the people who run the club.
As for Paul Petrov, what do we actually know about him really ??
Not worth the risk if you ask me plus we have both wings sewed up now....

I seen Paul Petrov play in EURO 2004 and he was the star man of bulgary team. I know, that was 3 years ago. I think he was playing in germany at the time but he was shite hot.

With Regards to the wings, I think we are more than covered left side with Andy coming fit and the possibility of Arteta playing wider and Pioneer or Paul Osman playing right side.

Paul Peschilido is a free agent and he has european experience with Werder Bremen

The way he played last Wednesday at Preston Leg End is more apt

It’s down to him wether he gets a chance, and I’d love it to happen,

BUT ........
