The way to do it?

Now I know Evertonians don't care what the red side are doing... however, in the
context of a new stadium and its impact in Liverpool as a city, I
actually think we should. So take a look at this (if you can! ? Warning: it's from the Liverpool FC website!!!)
Note Rick Parry's comment "Liverpool as a
city is on the move and deserves world class developments like this."
Quite.
I filled in the Toffeeweb survey on the new stadium, and in the comments
section I stated that due to the emotive aspect of potentially leaving
the city, any development in Kirkby had to be truly iconic. Admittedly
I don't think the designs are they have been currently put forward are.
The fact that it's based on another stadium shows it isn't unique to the
club in the same way that Goodison and (depressingly) Liverpool's new
stadium designs are. A stadium should reflect the identity of a club -
its passion, history, the fact that it is different. Unfortunately LFC
understand this - maybe it's the external investment that's allowed them
to do so. We currently can't afford to do so.
The designs published by EFC last week show a perfectly good functional
stadium that in many respects are an improvement on Goodison. I just
don't think it's enough, especially as I believe it needs a "wow" factor
to overcome the hurdle of its location. I have no problems in moving to
Kirkby, and in light of our current finances and situation, getting a
stadium for such little cost is astonishing. Yet we will be committing
to moving to something that on current design is second rate, and as
such, I think it is a missed opportunity - one that will be felt for 50+
years.

I hope Bully has had a look at the Liverpool drawings and I hope he's choking on his coffee. Yes I know, they're only drawings but it looks an awful lot better than the cowshed. Added to that the soundbytes "The City deserves a structure like this" "We expect the best and this is the best" should add some sort of embarrasment factor.
Before you all start, I know we have no money compared to them, large backers etc etc, but I've said before Nil Satis Nisi Optimum is how our club should be run. It's our moto not theirs. We shouldnt be settling for some easy option piece of shite outside of the city.
And NO I dont want to go to fucking Kirkby and all you who do should have a long hard think along with our so called leaders.

Just seen the first pics of LFC stadium and have to say I am not too impressed. I think it looks worse than ours from outside. It certainly doen't look like a footy stadium and inside it looks pretty much like Kirkby. In fact it looks like they have borrowed a few ideas from ours with 4 stands and glass-filled corners. Makes me think at £300m that Kirkby is an even bigger bargain.

The shites stadium looks good on the inside but a bit tacky on the outside (said with a tad of jealousy) but we knew that with their backers that they would be trying to out do the emirates and old trafford but at the moment we just havent got that option so its probably better that we will be a few miles away rather than re-developing goodison and us being able to see the thing while we are at the match!

It looks like a deformed supermarket from the outside, and it also looks like they have made a balls off the seating inside trying to incorporate a ?new kop? having top tiers at different levels and stands at different inclines.
While ours may be build by Tesco at least it doesn?t look like a Tesco (look at the 3rd pic and imagine a TESCO sign where the pic of what looks like fans are ) , there is nothing new or original about this design in fact these type of buildings are already considered out of date . Leave them off I say to waste 300 mill on that pile of shite

And did you notice?A daytime shot.No searchlights.I don’t think it is an out of this world stadium like some had predicted. But come on lads to say it is no better than ours is ridiclious. You need to take the Everton blinkers off.I hate to say,but it is by far a beeter design than we have been offered.

I think the new RS stadium design looks shite! It looks like one of those modern art galleries that you see springing up all over the place. Ironic seeing as they are usually full of over priced crap too. Say what you like about the whole "Kirkby Project" but at least it looks like a football stadium.

For a stadium that is apparently costing £300mill i think it looks crap.
The corners and the glass look shit.
I havent got a link but it looks exactly like stansted fucking airport terminal!!!

I perosonally think it’s been designed by a committee - one stand each - and then some poor sod’s had to link it all together.
The airport teminal analogy is quite accurate.

Well, how thoughtfull of them to drop that little handgrenade into our family squable. Honestly I dont like it. My first thought was it looks like an airport terminal, spot on Michael. However, knowing I sometimes lack objectivity in these matters I carried out a (admittedly unscientific) survey in the office. I asked Spurs, Forest, Newcastle and Tranmere fans ( I live in the south) which they prefered, and they all said ours . Only one of them even liked the shite design. We’ve got it right ,they’ve got it wrong.

Having just seen the Dark Sides's plans for the new stadium, I was wondering whether LFC will have to compensate us Blues for lack of car parking facilities on match days?
I'll bet if the boot was on the other foot, the council would have come up with an objection on the grounds of lack of proper infrastructure / car parking facilities.

Paul Clays you say you dont care what the RS are doing well its about fucking time you did do you muppet.Everything LFC has done in the past 30 years has had a direct impact on me and every Evertonian I know.Apart from winning every fucking trophy on the planet 5 times over theres plenty more that I have been destroyed by.
Heysel.Liverpool fans riot Everton lose the best team we have ever had and we get kicked out of Europe for 5 years. That doesnt matter to you though.
Losing 3 cup finals in 5 years to the RS thats ok is it?
How about us getting booted out of the Champions League in 2oo5 because Liverpool badgered EUFA
to gain entry when they had no entitlement. The result being the Mugs in Blue go out of the competition one way or the other. Now this new ground is being built on Sanley Park and we are leaving the city. What do you think will happen to the young kids who grow up in Liverpool.Do you think they will trek out to Kirkby to go to the football or watch the local team thats on thier doorstep. Its a no brainer mate.
So please dont say what LFC are doing doesnt concern us because it does.Everything they do to become bigger and more powerfull should concern us all.Forget that dopey song you probably sing at the match and get with the real world.

Paul Clay?s inane comments have been deleted. This thread is on this website for the reasons Tony states above. Normally, I would not sanction such redshite content, but this has extremely high relevance to our current discussion threads and is allowed for that reason only. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see if what is proposed is what they end up with.
I hope they get some dodgy builder in that’s been on homes from hell or something.

I opened the link with trepidation but was pleasantly surprised, it is horrible! I must admit I am getting sick of all these artists impressions though, we have had two now as a club and if Kirkby falls through we will no doubt be in for a third, that must be some sort of record. Just think with all the money spent on graphic design we could have re-developed Goddison!

I think its fukin ugly(so it does reflect kopites and lfc) honestly even if it was designed for any other team in the world id still think the same red retards

Have to agree with the Ste B comments on this one boys.
I personally think not only is it a better design, but also the location.
It will be massive and dominate the area for miles around and i’m going to have to drive past the fucking thing and watch it go up brick by brick every working day of my life.
We on the other hand will be stuck in a little squalid backwater (no offence to Kirkby or it’s people. I’m using it as an analogy to illustrate the fact we are moving out of the city). Away from our heritage and away from the eyes of the tourists that LCC want to attract to it’s latest bastard son.
NSNO. I’m fucking heartbroken.

I’ll admit, the New Anfield looks fucking amazing... it has individuality, asymmetric stands.. everything a new Goodison should have.
I’ve said it before, I dont know why the new stad couldn’t have been modeled on Goodison. For example, retaining a huge mainstand with a larg hanging blue roof. The new stad in Kirkby looks sterile, cheap, shit.

First up I should say I am an engineer by trade and take a very pragmatic look at things. The LFC proposal looks stunning on the outside. But consider this. How dated will it look in 10 (or 20 or 30...) years time. The outside of the EFC proposal is clearly a functional design i.e. it won’t date. Also, and I feel this is more important, sporting events are viewed from inside a stadium not outside. So if our new stadium is equally as good or better on the inside and costs a lot less (which I understand it will by a very large margin) then I suggest the EFC proposal is the better one. I’m not discussing the location of the stadia here just the relative merits of each one. Also, how much debt will each team accrue to build said stadia?

Furthermore, the LFC design is very complex. Complex designs require much more expensive maintenance. They normally require it on a more regular basis too. To use a crude analogy LFC are going to buy an Astin Martin. We are going to buy a Volkswagen Passat. Guess which one needs to go to into the "shop" more often? Which one will be more expensive to service? Sorry for my very pragmatic view on these things but I suspect quite a few of you might agree with me.

That is the single most hideous stadium ever.
It the the modern equivalent of 1950’s concrete hell that is being pulled down across the country..

Just thought how good it is of the yanks across the park to seize upon the essence of Liverpool Football Club by deciding to build a Victorian piss pot in stanley park so it can hold all the shite in it. Well done, now flush them down the sewer. Thanks

Is there anybody out there who, like me, is sick and tired of reading the same old arguments for and against the new stadium?
The pros and cons leap onto anything related to Kirkby and its all getting a bit tiresome.
I suggest TW create a special forum to cover all that news and let them tear each other to bits.
Those having weighed up the known facts and decided which way to vote would be spared the repetitive spiteful innuendo and increasingly foul language that has crept into the debate.
